Brembo Rear Brakes
Brembo Rear Brakes
Can you get rear Brembo brake calipers for a 2009 Colbalt SS? The stock ones rust and look bad. The front Brembo are very good calipers. Front and rear Brembo's would give the perfect look.
You might want to do some research before doing this. You might actually hurt your braking performance- Your car was engineered to have balanced braking power. The implications of adding big rear brakes may have undesired consequences. I'm not claiming that it will hurt your brake performance but i'm making you aware of the possibility.
^^ exactly what he said, you may find your self doing circles every time you hit your brakes hard.
There is a lot of engineering that goes into the size of the rear brakes and how much pressure is required.

I agree. However, from what i have read on this forum, most are looking for the asthetics of the Brembo brakes. Adding a larger brake system most likely will not increase the braking effectiveness by much considering the limiting factor for stopping on our vehicle is the mechanical grip of the tires. the larger brake system if setup and propotioned properly will help with brake fade though.
Frig on hard braking at the track, I can get my rear end to peak it's head out a bit lol
You want it to look good, just get these

have you ever hit the brakes too hard going into a corner quickly? It's easy to throw the back end around as it is, adding more rear brake could not only be a bad idea, it could be flat out dangerous. Think of it this way, you said that braking power has more to do with the tire, well if your not gonna be running A6s, you may end up hitting the brakes and locking up the rears on accident.
Not saying it wouldn't be cool, but it may not be a great idea, maybe if you got bigger brembos in the front, then did rear brembos.

Not me man... i was just reinforcing the fact that 'apamphilis' was looking more for the asthetics of the Brembos than the performance aspect. The new Camaro comes with a 4 wheel Brembo brake system and someone may be able to make a braket to adapt them for him. Really, there is not much need for the Brembo fronts, even if you may be doing some track days. At that, im sure that larger rotors and the LSJ/Sport front calipers with performance pads would be just fine. Have had no issues with braking on my 08' Sport.
Now as i previously stated above, rear upgrades brake on either cobalt is just down right pointless unless you want the looks and the to say you have them.
As for the fake Brombo covers, thats just retarded and you would still be able to tell that they are fake..... Nuff said
The stock ATE rear calipers with vented rotors are more than sufficient for street and even track use. BMW's use ATE's all around even on their M cars, and they perform flawlessly.
However, I can see the desire to have matching Brembos calipers in the rear. They would look pretty sharp.
The real reason its not possible is not because a custom bracket would need to be made or the brake bias would be off. The issue is that everyone is forgetting that the stock calipers have the parking brake integrated into the caliper. So if you went with a Brembo 2-piston from something like an Evo or STI, you would have no parking brake at all. It is not possible to have a parking brake built into a fixed caliper like a Brembo 2-pot, and there are no provisions for a drum-in-hat parking brake setup either.

ive been the road course at fontana twice so far with stock brakes and with upgraded fluid and ss lines and they both make a big difference and i wouldnt even think of tracking my car if i was a ss/sc with stock brakes they suck lol
This is apamphilis (Alex). I want to thank everybody for their comments. Really appreciate the input. I am just going for the aesthetics. Riceburner, how much do those black Brembo's go for?
