Canuck Motorsports Dead Coils?

Are the dead coils supposed to be on the top (body) or bottom (trailing arm).

Cat had to get in the picture :3

Are the rear springs sitting correctly in the picture?

I've seen posts on here where people have them either way, so it's kinda hard to decide.

I'm used to j-bodies, and the dead coils always were on top...

this picture shows bottom to top.

the pic is of pedders but im sure your springs are built similar tho. also, before you install the rear springs, make sure they are facing the right way. if you set the spring on the ground it should lean a certain way, make sure it leans to the front of the car.

Looked around a bit more, looks like dead ones are going on top like I predicted. I will keep the proper facing in mind.

Dead coils are suppose to go on top. I have these same springs and the guy who installed them put them the rears upside down. My dead coils are on the bottom and I was told they are upside down. It doesn't really matter much though

it matters when the springs fall out. The dead coils are designed to keep the spring in place when the twisting beam rebounds (droop) and the spring will try and often does pop out of the top spring locator nipple. The lower spring seat is easy, gravity keeps it in, but the top is the problem. As the CM spring loses rate over time, eventually the dead coils have insufficient spring rate to keep the spring in place over bumps when the beam drops down, and the spring can fall out.

so. dead coils up.

if you were to cut 1 1/2 coils off the rears, it would make sense to do it from the dead end right?

i think the reason why people say ssc springs and cm springs are the same is because the ride quality and the drop is the same.

dont get how ride can be the same when one has dead springs and other doesnt.

Im looking to buy these soon and judging by the way my megans sit (if CM sits similar) ill cut 1/2 coil in front 1 1/2 in back. I have new struts so im not worried about it, and I want a little bit lower than regular.

Cm's with a coil cut will most likely ride better than H&R race.
