Control arm bushings or sway bar end links are both common problems with Cobalts. Your car is more than 3 years old, so your factory warranty is done. Do you have an extended warranty?

Every single time I turn I hear a thud noise coming from my front. I'm lowered on Sportlines.

Could it be that I need new CV Joints?

Yes i have a extended warranty i got the car this past june. i also kinda get the thud when i turn the wheel left then back right real quick im not lowered though. Would anybody suggest any mods to make the car more solid or a better ride overall and possibly help this issue?

It could be your upper strut mounts. Moog and another maker of these parts had quite a few failures. Mine did the same thing till I went to a spherical style upper mount.

Could also be your intermediate steering shaft.

I had the same type of noise too, turned out that the sway bar links and the bushing had gone bad. Replace those bad boys with something that can hold for more than a few years.

I am just going to drive mine the way it is until major disaster strikes to find out exactly what the problem is. Im not going to replace the whole front end for a small clunk.

Not trying to thread crash, but I'm actually experiencing the SAME PROBLEM. It's more like when I go over speed bumps it sounds like maybe the strut is starting give out. It's like a squishy sound, but it's not the normal "gas movement" soudn we usually hear. It's squeaks too. I have about 33K miles

I have a similar "clunk" sound, but mine is usually only when I first start the car up and it's only when I turn the wheel. It also happens more frequently in cold/rain. Idk wtf it is.

I have Megan Racing coilovers btw

yeah mine is hard to replicate after the car warms up, or is driven a good distance but it sure is annoying to have a fairly new car with clunks and thuds.

Get use to it, I've had it on a lift, and found the lower control bushings were cracked, replaced them with some oem ones, replaced sway bar mount bushings, struts, and strut mounts. It will come back...

Mine has been clunking for a while, everything I have read goes back to endlinks so I am getting ready to replace them. Im going with a set of these:

I feel the ball joint in the stocker end links could be most if not all of the problem

I used to have a clunking if I would go under like 4mph and turn the wheel I would get a "clunk clunk clunk" type noise..

Went away for now, I still have no clue what it was/is.

I've been on Sportlines for almost a year.

My car does this too. Its irritating because I already changed the control arm bushings with OTTP ones and then went Moog sway bar links. I think my next step is going to be the upper strut mounts and struts. My car has 60,000 though so I figure its about do for some struts since it is a Chevy. Probably the reason I've owned imports since 2000.

on my 2005, the first thing that went was the SWAY BAR BUSHING. jack up the car and take a peak. if u see space in the bushing area, then you know. mine was rather obvious.

i agree with this. i did the exact things u did, still have a clunk. mine sound more like under the steering wheel somewhere....maybe in the steering itself

Glad everyone can share all the similar problems together. Kinda sad that my 91 accord that the cobalt replaced as my dd had a million less issues, o well live and learn.
