Coilovers on LNF questions
I got me an 09 sstc cobalt and read alot about axle binding and steering rack issues when 2.5 inch drop or lower(coilovers)...couldnt find alot of info exept the dumb questions other ppl had about their automatic LS/LT cobalts...wondered since i had lnf axle and hub ouf course, will i get any axle bind or rattles...planning on goin 3 inch drop during summer and stock height during winter since we almost live in alaska here...wondered if steering rack shimming or rotated mounts were absolutelly necessary on the LNF...i plan on going stance or d2 coilovers.
Some1 please help me i dont feel like buying half the car just to go 3 inches lower, but want to do it right so will i need to do anything else but to buy and install the coilover set when UPS shows up to my door or will i have a major headhache having to get 20 thousand different parts and alwayz end up having to fix something.thank you. Chucky

Yes you can do whatever you want, its your car. It may break it may not, but if you wanna do it right, do what blackSSstg2 said and get rotated transmission mounts and rack spacers.
cool so now i will now invest 1,100 for coilovers,250 for da mounts, work on a bunch of stuff others dont have to go through with their civics...i mean i really love my cobalt and know all the upsides of it compared to other vehicules, but this powel mounts thing just turns me off.
You can get cheaper mounts but the Powell mounts are the best and will last vs the other brands that you'll be replacing the bushings every year or so. I have a set of steering rack spacers I'll let go for $10 shipped, I thought I would need them and it turns out I didn't with just YYZ springs.

Its your car, install whatever you want however you want.
Just providing you with information to reduce your chance of fail

Why do Powell's mounts turn you off? Because your cheap or because you think you can't install.them? Its easily done on jack stands. Cobalts are easy to work on.
Like other guys said do it right or dont bother modding it because then the car will be a "**** box" because work wasent done properly

u guyz are right,i was just being sarcastic about this not-so-plugnplay coilover/powel mounts/washers for the steering rack thing, and the reason i got me a cobalt was cuz i was tired of redoing the entire car every year because its getting old A-F...but i guess even if the car is new i still gotta swap those brand new mounts for my stupid axles to turn straight.i will lower the car for sure, and the right way,im getting all the stuff i need, because the cobalts sit way up in the clouds and look like monster trucks, and i got nothing against base model cobalts, its just that their axles are a bit longer and and tyhe answer their were getting were not appliable to me.
