control arm ball joint
 

Hey, is there a ball joint that works with the lnf cobalt control arm.
the same as stock or better. thanks

I'm on the side of no, you have to buy the entire control arm from GM.

Facebook tells me otherwise. But, my LNF came with aftermarket ball joints and when I was chasing down a knock, I visibly saw the ball joint move in the knuckle when everything was torqued correctly.

Dont do it. There is a Moog ball joint that is listed to fit the FE5 suspension. It does not. There is something like a 1mm difference in diameter smaller then OEM. I did it and I replaced all kinds of things trying to isolate a front end clunk, which since I had brand new ball joints I looked at everything else. When I did figure it out finally about 3 weeks later it wrecked my spindle so I had to replace it too. Get a new control arm from Crate Engine Depot and call it a day.

thanks. Well, I got myself in a pickle cause I picked up only the powell bushings to save money. Was just gonna replace the bushings and do the ball joint and the other side bushing later on. But I can't even find a shop to press in the bushings (besides one that wanted $350 lol). So now I have to get a bushing press tool or see if tom from CED will press them into new control arms or my old ones. I should have just bought new control arms with the bushings...

It took me a bit of looking, but ended up getting both of my CABs pressed in for 100. Not cheap, but the shop wasn't a bunch of jerks. Look for the little shops with the old guys sitting around bullshitting inside (that is what worked for me). Good thing from all that looking around - now I have someone who likes working with weekend warrior mechanics like me. They also admitted they like the income from when sort of mechanics like me break things.

Meh got my answer.

I used an air hammer on mine with a sharp chisel bit to get them out and used a smaller style harbor freight press to get them in. Im sure though you could go to harbor freight and by a ball joint press kit and make that work as well for in the future.
