Most original rotors I've seen on other cars have some plating or coating on the hub area of the rotor that doesn't get rusty. Are yours as bad as these?

i just got a metal brush to it first too brush some of the rust off

What he did works well. I would consider using high heat paint. In case you are ever doing back to back high speed stops.
There is no need to tape off the rotor. The paint wil be burned/scraped of after the first stop.
Make sure you torque down your rotor evenly or you will notice your rotors are warped down the road.

I drove a Ferrari stradale 360 extensively over a three year period track training with a real nice owner, it had the carbon brake option and i gotta tell you that although the tires are always the ultimate limiting factor for braking performance, the pedal modulation was so crisp and accurate in feed back i could out-brake a 360 challenge on slicks with the stradale on street tires. Oh and what else? NO DUST... migod a huge time saver....well worth the 50 k option price....also that car has the optional italian racing stripe just 7k bucks.

Well, I was a little bored at lunch so I decided to price out the ZR1 ceramic brake system for my Cobalt
With my super secret special pricing it would run me $3390USD. List price is: $1700/ea for rotors, $698/ea for calipers, and $770/side for pads(yes $770 per wheel!) Thats $6336 plus hoses, hardware, machining to the rotor hats, rotor centering rings, and of course wheels that will fit 15.5" rotors.....
