Okay the reference to cancer is stupid, but I figured it seems the be the uncureable issue with our cars. The rear brake moan.
Does anyone know how to stop this? Do I need new rotors, softer pads. What's going on here?

Only time I get that is if the car has been parked overnight after driving in the rain. First time I use the brakes it goes away. Certainly not a daily, or even weekly occurrence.

I have this same problem, and it just started earlier this year (car is 3 years old, about 33k miles. I was running HPS pads in the rear (got them before I knew they were ****) and just recently replaced them for the track with DTC-70s. Brand new pads, same problem. Sounds like a truck lol I do think cold temperatures and possibly humidity have something to do with it. Brakes are completely quiet when braking at speeds >10mph...

Yeah mine stops making that noise after my car/brakes warm up. I hate it and I wanna say during summer I don't recall it doing this. I'm thinking the dragging rear brakes mixed with the moisture is causing this noise.
what the hell..thats not right at all. You must have your ebrake too tight. Mine doesnt do that when reversing. it only does it when the pads/calipers are wet from Rain/Snow and I am doing the braking

Well I'm applying my brake, I'm slowly backing up (down?) from my driveway. I have this huge and abrupt decline as part of my driveway so when I get to that point I just need to apply my brake.
It could be my E-Brake is still slightly engaged, but I'm not sure.
If I don't apply the brake it just doesn't make that noise.

mine does like a moan sorta like this but not as loud. its only right after I wash my car and reverse slowly. other than that never does it. my ebrake doesnt work though so it could be somewhat tight?
You guys have a bigger issue going on. Mine only make a noise the first time I touch the brakes. Once that surface rust is cleaned off they are silent. Also I replaced the stock pads with hawk hps and new rotors about 25k miles ago and still have 50% pad left. Lube the slide pins about every 3 oil changes
Had it more on my '06 LE5 which partially was the parking brake I think but my LNF also does it on occasion in reverse on humid mornings.... Very rare though and after the brakes are touched it goes away.
