Arrow Drop & Stance Recommendations

S! CSS Members, Users and Staff.

My name is Mark. I am from the Lone Star State. I daily drive a 2007 Chevy Cobalt with a 2JZ-GTE swap and RWD conversion. Haha, that would be EPIC! I will post recent pictures of my Balt after this weekend's track gathering and photo shoot in the Pictures & Videos forum. Stay tuned!

Suspension Question - What would I have to do to achieve the drop and stance of the Cobalt in the Stance GR+ ad below WITHOUT buying Stance GR+ coilovers?

Description - I am currently using Tenzo-R lowering springs. The drop and ride is nice BUT I am not satisfied. I am all about my car's drop and stance. I considered buying one of the following lowering springs: B&G, H&R or Pedders. I don't know if these lowering springs are lower than my Tenzo-Rs.

Tire Sizing Question - What tire size do you recommend to fill-in wheel gap a little more?

Description - I am currently using 215/45/17 Bridgestone Potenzas. I've read a thread that using a slightly larger tire size will fill-in the wheel gap a little more. Will a slightly larger tire size help me achieve (or close to) the drop and stance I want?

Thank you,
INTENSEL61

Cut your springs.

All joking aside, that would be the only way to get that low without actually buying coilovers. Using tires to fill out you wheel well will work, but an 18" wheel would be more effective.

To be honest your car looks great as it is.

Haha! Upgrading to 18 inch wheels is what I plan on doing. Thank you, ls1! Btw, you've got one of the sleekest Balts ever! Can I haz?

235/40/18 will fill the wheel well pretty good, It's just really hard to get a car that low while still being able to maintain control unless it's a sleeved body like coilovers.

Thank you, sundevil! I have a Modern Performance shorty antenna now. I've done a few minor/tasteful things since these pictures.

Tenzo R's have the lowest drop without cut springs but yours has the same issue mine does, the front is higher than the back. Honestly cut your fronts one coil and it will drop you another inch or so.

Its because the aspect ratio is in relation to the width, think of it as a percentage, 40% of 225cms or 40% of 235 cms making 235 a bigger sidewall even tho it is the same number. see what im sayin? so ya know for next time

::facepalm:: i thought this was common knowledge haha, oh well.

And the aspect ratio is not an actual percentage. As 40% of 235 is 90 and some change, and i'm telling you, the sidewalls on my 235/40's are not 90mm tall haha

lol for some reason i thought aspect ratio had nothing to do with tire width, didnt pay enough attention in susp and steering in tech school i guess :p

Use your eyes?? "think of it as a percentage" not saying it is one, just an easy way to understand the relationship. next time you try and make someone look stupid make sure it doesn't backfire on you. smart ass unnecessary comments like these are what destroy online car communities. people are on here to share knowledge not try and insult others.

Do you know the ins and outs of your car? every little thing? do you know if your pistons are 20 over 30 over? do you know the ratio rods to main on the crank? no one knows everything that's why we are all here too pool info.

sorry just been on so many shitty forums.

Sundevil, you don't have any problems with tires that wide? Cuz I'm on 18's as well and roll on 225's and my tires rub in my wells when I turn lock to lock.
