Canada Eibach pro-kit question

I might be able to get my hands on a set of Eibach pro-kit springs for my ls.

I know the owner of a Midas shop close to my place and checked with him how much he would charge to install these.

He said that he would have to change the shocks as well since I will be lowering the car too much.

Any truth to this?

Thanks

I dont think the prolines even drop the car any if Im not mistaken. That might only be for us SC guys, but you know damn well that that SOB was trained from the womb to upsell no matter what. You come in with a missing tire valve cap and they are going to try to sell you a new engine. Tell him to install the springs with the current struts and make it sound like hes a COMPLETE idiot.

There are some members who have run 50k on sportlines/stock struts with no issues. It's not required, but your handling would be even better with some Konis.

Why don't you take up the install yourself? It honestly isn't hard. Rent a strut compressor, grab some bros and you're good. Air impact helps a lot, but some ***** behind a wrench will work.

Total BS. Your stock struts and shocks are fine with the Pro-kit springs. Two years and counting for me.

Thanks for the information.
Now, if I can just get the wife to agree with the purchase cost, I am all set.

Install them yourself! There are a couple of great How-to's here on the site that show you how. And it's fun.

The stock Cobalt LS struts are going to wear a bit faster with the prokit but should hold up fine for a while. If you upgrade your struts/shocks to the SS/SC (FE5) then the prokit only lowers 0.5" in the rear and they will not abuse the struts at all.
Basically the Stock SS/SC or FE5 Struts already have a lower stance than the stock FE1 on base models

Well, that's not exactly true.

The FE5 strut has a lower rate then the FE1, but it doesn't sit at any different height. They will last just as long.
