when changing out the shocks/struts from an Fe1 to an Fe5 would i have to change the springs to the fe5 or can i keep the original fe1 springs but with the new suspension setup

 

You can use your stock springs, but i would just go ahead and upgrade springs since they will be off anyway.

 

I'm doing the shocks/struts and springs off a 2010 tc iv heard but don't quote me the damper rate it different and alsp was told the struts are shorter ? But don't quote me..its what I heard.. I work at a place were we sell all OEM parts for pretty much every car..we had nothing strut or spring wise for the SS model because its considered "aftermarket" to us. But went to autozone.com I chose my car l61 and found the springs then did it for the ss/Sc...same part number..it got confusing and got online help through there customer service and the rep told me the strut is shorter on the ss/Sc.so I'm trying to confirm this. Now you can do the ss springs on your Fe1 send me a pm iv got a guy that has all 4 ss/Sc.springs with 6k on them for a crazy low price . Hope this helps some

 

Fe1 springs are way to soft, just change them. You'll more then likely find a few sets for sale on here.

 

Yeap whatevery one is saying go.the.classified section on here and just keep checking on it to see...I see probably at the least one a week.

 

At least get the FE5 springs too. Struts help the suspension but springs also do.

 

..this I'm throwing out there and correct me if I'm wrong..but.wouldn't the Fe5/lnf differ from the.Fe5 ss/scring because of the load its handling? So you would get a tad bit better drop? I just want to know so I can know for myself and when I'm talking about it k.ow wtf I'm talking about

 

FE5 springs do provide more drop than FE1

 

so with the fe5 springs will i get a stiffer suspension, and as far as ride quality goes will it be much smoother than the fe1 or about the same i have about 90k on the fe1 suspension set up and feel that its about time to get a new suspension and might as well upgrade it to the fe5

 

FE1 is set up for being the smoothest. FE5 will stiffen it up

 

i went from fe1 to fe5 (tc) and the ride defiantly stiffened up, but was well worth the benefits.

are the lower control arms from the ss/tc a direct bolt up to an fe1 suspension like the ss/sc's are?. I am planning to re-do front end to eliminate the dreaded front end rattle from the stock fe1 suspension. And I am wondering what all parts I should be looking to get and what I dont need to get. Plan on changing out springs and struts at a later time just thinking control arms and bushing and endlinks for now but is there anything else i should be looking for

 

yes, control arms are direct bolt on

 

how about bushing. What all bushings should be replaced with the upgraded ones. I tried checking gm parts direct but it looked to me like alot of parts where just duplicating themselves. Found it very confusing to try and find what I really needed, i am also thinking I shold do the knuckles but from what i have searched and read I can ony go to the ss/sc knuckles as the tc's are of a different spline count is this correct. So as of now I am thinking, ss/tc lower control arms, ss/sc knuckles, ss/sc endlinks and what ever bushings I need and that should take care of the damn rattles and maybe stiffen up the front end a bit.

 

im gonna be doing this in the spring , ss/tc shocks and struts and sportlines. anyone know how much to cut the bump stock though?
