Floating feeling

Hi everybody,

I am a newbie here and I had a question that you guys may be able to help with.

When I am on the highway sometimes it feels like the car is drifting or pulling at about 70MPH. This is not drastic, like I think I am going to loose control or anything. It is just annoying and kinda makes you think what the...???

Backgound on the car, it is a 2007 Cobalt LT Coupe with the only mods being to the stereo and a K&N drop in filter. The tires are the crummy stock ones from the factory.

I have been a car guy for years and have driven lots of different cars from Porsches to Scion's, it feel like the stock wing is pulling the back down but there is nothing pulling down the front. Like it is an aerodynamics thing.

I was thinking maybe changing out the tires would help, maybe something stickier?

Suggestions, thoughts?

I think that may be whats going on here, I've been in a few cars that felt like that at highway speed.

Another thing to consider is if the pulling or wandering goes away if you change to a different lane on the freeway... Reason I say this is that my ss does this when the highway/freeway lane is rutted from truck use. IIRC, it's called "tramlining" when it just kinda wallows between the the two ruts. It also tends to pull toward the opposite rut... so it wanders back and forth. Just a thought.

My first thought was to also blame the wind as mine does that.

Lower it and slap on some sway bars and maybe some 18's and watch how it feels afterwards.
