got a clunk in my suspension

when i turn to either side i hear a clunking noise but not when just going straight. started today after trying to get thru this ice and snow here. car seems to ride fine but sometimes pulls to the right and other times not.

On a side note i saw my coolant temps go to 270 degrees while revving to get up an ice covered hill. 1st time i saw my coolant light come on. Tranny temp went over 200 degrees as well. been a rough day for this car.

Snow and ice in the wheel well causing something to rub when the wheels are turned.

How do you know your transmission temperature? Cobalts don't have a tranny temperature gauge.

if you check his mod list, says he has one.

200* is nothing for trans temp, id only get worried above 230*. getting that hot isnt going to do any direct damage, it just reduces the life of the tranny fluid.

well car is still overheating to 270 degrees since yesterday now and my heat is blowing cold then blows hot then blows cold again. also the car seems to get to 270 then back down to 198 then right back up to 270 back and forth.

just checked my coolant and i was missing a decent amount, not all of it but i poured in about a half container to fill it back up. would this be a big thing to worry about since yesterday is when i think i lost the coolant because i was revving the hell out of the engine to get up an ice covered hill to where my speedo was hitting 100mph but i was really moving about 3 mph. i did go into redline on accident a few times in L gear so maybe i just burned up some coolant?

Engines are not supposed to just "burn up" coolant, if youre cycling between 270 ans 198, have heat and then no heat, and you needed a half gallong of coolant youve got a very real issue. The stuff that was happening was all caused by being low on coolant, you need to figure out why you were a half gallon low on coolant! Check for leaks, looks for evidence of coolant leaking down block but evaporating away(waater tracks down block) Pull your dipstick and oil cap and see if youve got any oil contamination. If youve got the tools and are comfortable doing so pull your spark plugs and see if any of them are noticeably cleaner than the rest, this would be an indicator of coolant consumption.

well with the added coolant the car is back within normal range of coolant temp. I did a quick check over for signs of leaking coolant on the block but i didnt see anything. I can check the spark plugs easily when i get some time. so if i have coolant contamination some will be cleaner than the rest?

Yes if youre burning coolant there is a very good chance that the plug from the bad cylider(s) will be cleaner than the rest
