Hi! Remember me?
Hi! Remember me?
Hi there. I'm Halfcent, remember me? I used to be on here all the freakin' time. Then I moved, economy went to hell, projects got shelved, you know how it goes. Anyway, things are much better now. My Cobalt's got 95K miles on it and the suspension is worn out. I figure that's a good reason to tear the whole thing apart and do a bunch of little repairs that I've been putting off for some time. I have been keeping an eye on the salvage yards and today was pay day. Check out this beauty:

2006 SS. Came in two days ago. It took a straight hit to the side, right between the wheels. No suspension damage. It missed the front wheel by inches.

So what did I get from it?
Rear axle beam, loaded (parking brake cable, calipers, rotors, hubs, springs, mounts, if it was attached, I got it)
Front engine cradle (two bolt sway bar)
Both knee assemblies (control arms, knuckles, hubs, calipers, rotors, ABS sensor, strut, spring, upper mount)
Sway bar assembly (bar, clamps, bushings, end links)
Steering rack
Brake booster, master cylinder, ABS Rear Portioning valve
Dual blade front radiator fan
Sunroof assembly (a little damaged, but I got what I needed and the glass is intact)
Gobs of other little associated parts
What did I pay?
$800
Read it and weep boys.
I'll be tearing down and cleaning up the parts in the weeks to come. Installation over the course of the Spring. I'll be completely removing my powertrain during because I have to replace my torque converter. There will be many pictures, I promise.
I'm back. You're Welcome.
