How are your Pedders looking after use?
I have had my Pedders on the car for nearly 2 years. It is my daily driver and used year round.
Obviously I'm in MN and salt doesn't help. I don't wash the car often in the winter, but I'm curious how other people's Pedders look after time?
I'll get pics tomorrow, but I looked at them briefly a couple months ago and they are quite bad looking. The paint/coating/whatever hasn't lasted. What gives?
::EDIT...PICS::
So here's what the rear passenger spring looks like...they all look about the same as this one. I was just wondering if this is normal or if mine are ****? I got them from OTTP in a package with the FE5 back in 2010 when they had just come out. So they've been on the car for just about 2 years now.

Also, while I'm at it...anyone have OTTP Street Bar? I have a few questions...again, I bought this a long time ago...either 08 or 09, not sure which.
But I was wondering...why even though I have the Street bar, does it have the Hardcore sticker on it? Do they all say that or is it an error when they put the sticker on?

Secondly, anyone have problems with it's mounting? The driver's side contacts the rear beam while the passenger side does not. Does this contribute to any noises/clunking? It sounds like I have a clunking in the back and I know the shocks are fine along with the springs...they're seated properly as well.

The sway bar contacting the rear beam is normal. Powell designed those bars, my Powell bar rubbed there too. Also, if you do any hard cornering, it can cause the coils to rub together. Which causes the powder coating to wear off, letting the springs rust. They should be structurally fine.
I revised the bars to stop the contact. The V beam is not welded in perfectly side to side in the beam ;its a production item and they didnt care. I made the stickers on that bar, at the very beginning....
I have revised our bars with a welded in spacer etc, as folks didnt like the noise, (makes sense to me) but understand it doesnt make any difference in performance, really , except in racing we didnt hear any clunks lol so we never paid attention to that. We made them better and thats where they are today, along with stainless hardware.
It seems to me that corrosion is an issue with all under car parts, using a line drawn east of California and any place North of a line across the country about at tennesse lol
In our analysis of springs, which has been ongoing for some years now, the OEM spring is very well made and very well coated and protected, but I have seen OEM LT rear springs broken at the dead coils.
I have seen many broken Eibachs, CM, SSC, Tiens, to name a few. FYI
The Pedders rust and lose rate etc one of the sad commentaries of our time. The web site for Pedders say there springs are made in Australia. If that was the case I would not expect the springs to lose rate. Or corrode like that. Or coil bind at full compression at the track, like Wangspeed has happening. Or get into tire rub as they have sagged, like Northvibe and Loki etc.
I last sent the barcode tag pictures to Pedders of their springs off a customers car, on 7 months and really sadly corroded.
No response.
I am wondering out loud if these Pedders springs are made in Indonesia? Doesnt matter really I recoated my Pedders and they corroded in the garage this winter.
solutions ? I got some.

And of course being my daily in MN with salt all winter, I expected corrosion, but not that bad. My Sportlines held up better than these. I had Sportlines for 2 years, swapped to these, and the Sportlines looked like Wangspeeds after 2 years of use. I'm disappointed quite honestly in them. The Sportlines on FE1's were a perfect height, the handling wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad honestly.
I really can't wait for what you have in store John...I have a wishlist that I will try to work on once I have money because I want to make this car fun again...it's sucked for the last year to year and a half when it started having clunks/rattles/etc. It makes me want to get rid of it, but I can't afford a different car yet. And if I do it's going to be a Mazda2 or Sonic turbo 5-door. Going the right way this time with a stick too. But I'm guessing it will be at least 2-3 years before I get a new car...all ready have had this for 5 years and a week.
Describe hard cornering...it's basically a daily thing for me. I push my car extremely hard all the time. Not in a speed sense, but in cornering/handling.

I know I'm definitely interested in a few items when I have money...definitely want your springs that I'm hearing about...maybe the strut/shock package as well.
Under Car Rail an Harness bar also interest me, but are at the bottom of the list depending on money. I just want a car that will handle like it's on rails even if it doesn't have power.
As for the bar, I will probably be replacing it with your Hardcore 1.25" bar anyway...I think this bar handles extremely well with my tiny front sway bar and I will be upgrading my front bar to the factory FE5 sometime in the next month finally. I have had it for a year and now it's time to install it. I'll see how it handles with that and the 1" bar, but I think the 1.25" will compliment the FE5 up front better.
After messing around under the car this morning, I did look at the V beam a bit and noticed that it is pretty sloppily done, but like you said it's a production piece and how many hundreds of thousands of Cobalts have they produced (or more).
Thanks John, you're an asset to our community!

The only way I would bother with that is if I try to sell them...however, according to John, it sounds like that won't be very likely. It will be a who knows how much longer before I replace them, and when I do, they may be no good...but if they are, then I would do that to make them look better and get a little extra out of them.
