Labor for Front Sway Bar Install

now sure how behind on the times i am, as i haven’t been around for a min. but it appears the Eibach Front sway bar is out and shipping

http://www.turbotechracing.com/produ...dcategory=5627

i have a few questions

1) This will work with no other part needed on 08 G5GT(SS/NA)

2) i hear the engine brace/sub frame needs to be dropped in order to install a front sway bar on our cars, how long and how intensive is this. is this common on other cars, or is the special to ours.

3) How do you guys feel this will work with the TTR rear bar which i have all ready

thanks.....

probably 2.5 hrs, depending on what the labor rate is by you.

not really sure, why don't you look up some local shops in the phonebook and give them a call?? they ought to be able to give you some kind of quote.

Or PM someone that works at a dealerhsip, they should be able to pull up the suggested labor hours and point you in the right direction.

good luck.

Try and find a friend with some tools, buy him a case of beer and have him help you put it on

he is saying that the bar is just too thick for a normal street driven car, and that if you make a hard turn, the car will understeer like crazy. the best combination for the average car would be the FE5 front sway, and the progress (or similar size) rear sway bar. Balance is the key to this.

yeah as of now i have the stock FE3 and TTR bar in the backand the car feels preaty good, yet i still get some body roll from the front it seems. The current combo lends it self to more over steer as the back is more stiff then the front altho i have never encounter anythus far.

Perhaps the increase of the FE5 over the FE3 front sway bar will be more well balanced then the Eibach/TTR combo?

thanks for the help, i was rereading my responce and i hope i didnt come off like a dick, i wasnt trying to at all

no man, no dick. The ttr bar is a good match for the eibach front, but its still too big for the car, do you understand that?

an fe5 front, and progress rear would be great. And do you have springs? a set of eibach sportlines would do wonders for that body roll.

ok so what you are saying the TTR/Ebiach front bar would be a good balance together as far as front and rear stiffness, but would not be ideal for DD, more for a an Auto Xer/track racer is this what your saying ? or just all aound sucks?

no i do not have any springs yet, as im still trying to figure out which road is the best to fo dowm. there are so many options and i dont want to waist money or make my car ride like crap. I really like the idea of using the LNF parts as in shocks/springs/struts. this sounds like the best solution as im not looking to slam the car just want performance

oh i gotcha plow lol... i get it now..

yeah i think im looking for more control dipping and diving on the high way apose to taking on and off ramps at crazy speed. But as far as being ass happy or plowing i would think being ass happy is better correct?

The eibach bars are great bars, don't get me wrong. The deal is though, that the bars are extremely stiff, and the tires will yeild before the body starts to roll. Now, if you had race slicks, on a closed, prepped course, you would probably be just fine with these, they might even be amazing. And the stiffness you would notice on a DD, but it wouldn't make the car uncomfortable. Just that if you had to make a sudden sharp turn, the car may just understeer badly and plow ahead without turning.

I'm sure you would be ok to install these, but if yu get the eibach, get both the front and rear from eibach, as they are an engineered pair.

well i guess....the problem with oversteer is there are to types

fast over steer and snap oversteer

fast oversteer probly isnt really noticeable to a bystander

snap oversteer is where your good your good your good then bam your bad....it comes on really quick and sudden....this is what it seems the TTR bar does.

so in IYHO should

1)stick with the current FE3 front TTR rear
2)FE5 front TTRrear
3)Ebiach Front TTR Rear

i really dont want to buy another rear bar as i spent loot on the TTR so if i can make it work it woudl be ideal

i would go with 2 since you already have the TTR. best case scenario you would get a smaller rear bar, it would probably feel like a downgarde, but your car would actually handle better.

Fe5 bars are super cheap, even from the dealer.

get some springs, it would make a drastic change. SS/Tc struts are a wonderful idea for an upgrade from your fe3 setup, and those struts, with a set of eibachs would be great. If you don't want to lower, go with the stock TC springs.

FE5 bar, FE5 endlinks(or powergrids) and LNF springs when you get the loot. Will make a noticeable change. Having the front roll a bit isnt bad...its one thing that makes the tires bite. (and the ttr rear bar is making it even easier to tell the front is more compliant.)

Labor: Anything less than 2.5 hours will be a steal. GM time is 1.6hrs

Yeah theyll work, will be a little bit bouncy though, especially in front. Not a big deal, just not the best spring control.
