More detailed suspension questions...

Im planning on updating my suspension cause it needs it anyway so why not go ***** out and completely update it.

Since Im not planning on tracking this car really, I dont think I need to build a full track ready suspension. Just something that handles better than what I have now.

I'm pretty sure I will go with FE5 shocks/struts from the TC. But from there I've been considering running FE5 control arms, cause its really not much more expensive to just buy new control arms as oppose to rebuilding mine, plus it would be a nice upgrade. Questions come in though when trying to figure it out. I know the TC steering knuckles are more responsive than FE1 knuckles, but my axles wont fit, so would TC control arms fit FE1 knuckles? Basically I need to know if FE5 control arms will bolt onto my LS without any problems or need for machining.

The front sway bar. IS it worth it to upgrade the front sway bar while Im at it? What would be the best to go with? SC? TC? Eibach? I think stock for the FE1 cars is 19mm, and then the SS models are 23 or 24mm, so I would think anything beefier would be better, I just dont know if its needed or what to go with.

Finally, for now, steering rack spacers. Since I would be going with FE5 suspension and probably SSC springs, do I need steering rack spacers? They're pretty cheap so its not like it would break me to put them in while Im in there. Just dont know if I need them.

Im sure all this information is available from plenty of other threads, but one thread with all the information would be a whole lot easier.

The rack spacers will help with bump steer when you lower, I would get them. LSJ FE5 control arms (I have them) will bolt straight in to your knuckle. If you want to use LNF LCA's you will need to make the hole in the knuckle a little bigger, I forget the exact amount. I have the LSJ front sway bar with a 1'' rear bar and love the combo.

Well from what I read after I posted this, Powell said something about the hole in the knuckle being like 1mm too small. I would really prefer to use the LNF LCA's cause they're about $30 cheaper through CED.

Also, how much of a PITA was it to replace the front sway bar?

Not really worth the effort to switch out the front swaybar, but add a Powell rear swaybar. There is a member Nr.Noob or something (check classifides) selling LSJ control arms for about $150, I'd recommend new bushings preferably Powell's but if you want to keep the price down go with the new Moog ones that are metal too. I have steering rack spacers if you're interested $25 shipped, thought I'd need them but being on YYZ springs you don't even need to bother.

Yeah, I just PM'd N00blar, but right now I'm third in line for those LCAs. I'm secretly hoping they fall through cause that's a pretty awesome price. If not, I know where there is an SS in a salvage yard and I may check their prices. And honestly, I really want to get the big stuff bought before I start picking up the cheaper little parts cause I'm horrible about losing small parts before I get a chance to put them on. But yeah, I saw a post by Maven on swapping out the front sway bar and it seems like a **** ton of work. Not considering its not much gain for so much work, Im just gonna leave the stock one in.

Front sway get very little attention on this car. If youre planning on getting the whole TC suspension then I think you should swap the front bar. I felt a difference going from an SC to a TC and thats only a 1mm change. maybe its a bitch to swap but it is cheap on CED
