I have had Eibach Sportline's on for six months noticed no problems. Then I started hearing driver side noises. When I opened the hood I found the drivers side shock with the nut still on sticking way up through the mounting plate. It had dented the underside of the hood.

So I have taken it back out and it is apart. I see that the shock has a pretty good shoulder right below the threaded portion, but it passes right through the top mounting plate. Nothing to stop it from pushing up like it did.

What keeps it from doing this?

Is something missing that goes under the top plate?

Is the hole in the top plate supposed to be small enough to hold the shock in?

I was able to determine the top strut mount had failed and the 'bushing on the inside was worn to allow the strut to pop up. Do not know why this occurred, but it must have been in the original reassembly.
