Talking No more 4x4!!!

I put my progress springs on today and I'm sooooo sooo happy. My car no longer looks like a damn 4x4! The front isn't as low as I thought it would be but I'm happy with it and I'm sure it'll settle down with time. The car feels nice and stiff now, still getting used to bumps being rough though. I'm thinking about that progress rear sway bar now because it leans hard in front. I'll have some pictures (before and after of course) tomorrow since it's dark out now. Thanks to you guys and your how to section it was a relativly smooth process. Granted I didn't have power tools or a good jack (ended up using the stock jacks from my car, a honda accord and my girlfriends toyota corolla, lol) and it was only me (though my girlfriend helped a couple times). Had some excitment when I shot the top cover thing on the front struts into the neighbors yard when I got that PITA bolt off. I'm loving the springs so far though. The drop is perfect, it's not slammed but it's definatly low; just what I wanted. Pics will be up tomm, any questions? ask away!

Pictures!

Hooray for pics!

The biggest difference you notice from behind the car though.

After:

Now I just need to save up my pennies to get some wheels to fill the rest of the wheel well. Ought to make a pretty good difference going from 155/60/15 to 225/40/18 and ugly hubcaps to this

But, that won't be for a while. What do you guys think? It's a nice subtle drop, not slammed but definatly lower

You might want to look into getting new shocks/struts as well, the Koni Yellows are awesome.

Looks good btw.

Pretty sure progress only makes one kind of spring for our cars. I dunno where they're from because my girlfriend got 'em for me for my b-day. I just said get me progress springs.

Lightbulb we have a problem capitan

well 18 would of probably solved ur problem in the 1st place... if u put a pair of 18's on now and you currently have 15's yet you only have 2 - 2.5 in of clearance between the tire and the body then chances are the wheels will hit the body or will fit snug but bump while turning= fenders for you

(15+2=17 they may work a little better for you and for some reason they have better looking rims for 17 then they do for 18 a lot of the time)

Car looks much better lowered, and will look sweet with some rims on it too. I will agree with crash to make sure you research wheel and tire fitment before purchasing anything though. Don't completely exclude going with 17's though. You can get a nice set of 17's and some decent meats to wrap around em for cheaper then 18's still fill the wheel well nicely and have less wheel to have to rotate too.

Those are rough estimates, I didn't actually go out there with a ruler or anything. Not to mention, the tire will be smaller on the 18 inch wheels by 20mm (2cm) which means that on both side of the wheel it will be 2 cm shorter which means altogether 4 cm shorter. The wheel itself will be 3 inches bigger in diameter but that is in complete diameter so altogether in complete diameter I'll be losing 4cm and gaining 3 inches which once I find a ruler I'll figure out how much room there will be. I'm not worried about it, I'm sure there will be enough room.

Tire A: 195/60 R 15(24 x 7.68 x 15) Tire B: 225/40 R 18(25 x 8.86 x 18)
Width 7.68" (195.00mm) 8.86" (225.00mm) +1.18" (+30.00mm)
Sidewall height 4.61" (117.00mm) 3.54" (90.00mm) -1.06" (-27.00mm)
Overall height 24.21" (615.00mm) 25.09" (637.20mm) +0.87" (+22.20mm)
Circumference 76.07" (1932.08mm) 78.81" (2001.82mm) +2.75" (+69.74mm)

thats the difference in the two wheel sizes. by your reasoning it was a 3" difference. In actuality it is .87"

SC's come with 18's, many guys are running 19's, and in fact this month's featured car winner is SSON20's

........ ok the formatting came out crappy but here is where i got the data... its in the wheels and tires section. http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html

07... if you can I would say go to your dealer when you finally get the new wheels and see if they reflash your computer to input the 16" tires. according to the stsats with the 18" wheel you will have a 3.6% error meaning your speedometer will read faster than you are going and your odometer will be over by 3.6% if you switch your computer to the 205/55/16 variety you will only be off by .8%

his speedo will be off by about 2-3mph when he is doing 60mph.... not a real big deal IMO.... unless you have a truck, and lift it up and put like 35s or something on it, I dont think its that big of a concern.....

I'm going to measure my wheels before and after because if the 18s end up bigger that means my odometer will read slighty slower

you odometer will read lower than actual and so will speedo...so i suppose thats a good thing as long as you adjust your speed. odo is a good thing
