Noise issues with Sportlines?
I've had my Sportlines for about 8 months now and they have become extremely noisy.
Now I know it's hard to put a sound into words, but I'd describe what I hear as rattling, sqeaking and clunking. It's only at lower speeds (<30mph) and becomes worse the slower I drive. Especially on parking lots it sometimes sounds like something is going to fall off. It can be so loud that I attract pedestrians' attention - in a bad way obviously. I have done a visual check 2 weeks ago when i rotated my tires and don't see anything wrong, all bolts are tight.
Does anyone else have similar issues? Could it be that my struts are already shot? I hear that's what happens after a while with the Sportlines. Really want coilovers but they are not at the top of the list yet...

I don't think it 's the exhaust, or at least not just the exhaust. I'll double check for scuff marks this weekend. It seems to come from all 4 wheels. Almost like there are bolts that need to be tightened. If noone else with Sportlines recognizes this that makes me more concerned...
And as for the story with the police car, read this thread:

it might be the body flexing which would cause the the outer panels to rub against each other which would make those noises. try driving slowly over entrance ramps and stuff like that to see if you can replicate it from only body flex.
sportline springs suck, they coil bind. Hahn 3 inch is tough to stop hitting with a lowered car, try stiffer Subie 15mm hangers. I have a car to fix tomorrow with the subie hangers, I will see what happens and let you know. Loki41 fixed his hahn 3 inch with them, thats who gave me the subie hannger tip. The latest TC Hahn 3 inch system fits waaay better.
say what?
say what?

Spring is binding. Mine is doing this right now. Eibach will warranty it. They will send you a new pair of springs (both rears or both fronts - depending on which spring is binding) and all you have to do is send them back the binding spring.
the sprint spring in my old cavalier did the same thing. the best way to describe it is a "sprong" sort of noise, low pitch. it was because the rears were in coil bind, only 2 of the 7 coils did anything. the fronts were the same way, however 3 of the 8 coils were bound up and produced a "sprong" noise when turning at low speeds.

Sorry, finally just tried to take some pics of the springs in rest position, hard to get to especially the fronts!
driver's side rear:

passenger's side rear:

driver's side front: (sorry, photobucket is retarded about rotating the images)

passenger's side front:

Especially the rears seem compressed awfully far, or not? Is this coil bind? Still haven't gotten underneath the car to check the Hahn exhaust for rubbing. Will definitely do that this weekend, and I shall post pictures of my findings.

I had sportlines on my last cobalt. Same thing. Fine at first, then got noisy as all freaking hell.
No biased bullshit but h&r makes a much nicer spring. Absolutely quiet. The only noise I get is a clunk because my lower CABs need to be replaced.
