Exclamation OEM Brake Pressure on 09 LT w/ 16" Alloys

Community,

How much brake pedal travel do you get in your vehicles while driving?
Are you able to take it to the floor? Does it pretty-much stop at 50% stroke?

Wondering what the norm is for the pedal resistance in this vehicle.

I know what I BELIEVE it should be, but what I am getting is different.

Let me know, thanks!

The brake pedal should NEVER go to the floor. Either the brake system has air in it or something is mechanicaly wrong with the braking system.

Warranty time! And you might want to have it towed in, brake failure is nothing you want to deal with on the open road.

Never measured it but a good firm stop on the street gets my brake pedal about even (maybe a little higher) with the throttle pedal - very handy for heel and toe

If you can push it to the floorboards or it feels mushy at all, there is something wrong. Might just need bleeding, might be leaking somewhere, might have a bad master cylinder.....in any case, get it fixed before anything really bad happens.....like the back end of a Hummer.....

You have a warranty, should cost you nothing.

Ok, cool yeah I will be doing that soon.

But you are saying that it is very hard or nearly impossible to take it all that way down, right?
Thats what I'd expect it to be.

Yes. But be cautious. First moderate pressure on pedal, it will not touch the floor. If it does, big problem.
dash lites will show up, red brake warning lites.

if in an abs brake apply for an extended period of say 3-5 seconds on ice (if abs equipped) pedal will travel farther towards the floor.

Go to dealer ....
