To people with Eibach Sportlines

I have a set of Sportlines for my SS...but im worried about my ride being completely **** when i put them on.. how rough of a ride are the sportlines? if u rate the stock suspension as a 8 out of 10 on smoothness..what would u rate the sportlines at? I kno they are gonna look great and the car will handle better but i wanna know how stiff and shitty the ride could be? cuz im lookin for driveability not just drop..so to those who have them on their cars or who has ridden in an balt with sportlines..what do u think?

and if i decide to get rid of the springs or go with another set they will be for sale for 220 OBO

so feel free to vote..yes get em on..or no go with something else cuz the ride blows ..

are you looking for a smooth ride, or are you looking for better handling. Lowering springs will not be as smooth as stock. They will turn and handle a hell of alot better.

im not really worried about handling as of right now.. i mean i know pretty much any lowering spring will improve it but id like to keep a pretty smooth ride.. i know that lowering it will hinder this no matter what but i just dont want it to be so noticeable that im pissed off everytime i drive the car.. driveability is important to me..i know the pedder spring is supposed to be the best for ride quality but i dont feel like the drop is worth the 360 bucks.. i mean i could be wrong.. but thats a lot lol

I have sportlines on my Cobalt and I love they way they ride. It is not as smooth as factory springs, but IMO they ride smooth.

so you are one of the people that consider suspension work an "appearance" mod vs. a performance mod. don't do it. you'll regret it.

I have Sportlines on my car. In tuner circles, Sportlines are pretty much jokes because they ride so soft. If someone wants lowering springs that improve handling, they go for rougher riding Konis or Tiens. If they just want to lower their car without sacrificing their ride, they get Sportlines. The biggest problem with Sportlines is not a rough ride but the polar opposite, they're so soft that the car bounces a bit over bumps. Doesn't bother me though.

This is exactly what I was looking for you to say. You dont seem like you care much for handling or race. If that is true then dont get the pedders, the cost is not "worth" it for you because you seem to be interested in the look more than anything. Pedders are for people that want to race.

On the highway they seem to handle and take bumps pretty good...but if you do alot of around town or city driving and your roads aren't the greatest you will be cussing quite often. I drove to DC from Pittsburgh over the weekend and I literally couldn't wait to get outta my car while driving around DC from the rough handling of the car. The springs are nice, but just be prepared to hear more rattles and feel lots of bumps.

not really.. i obviously want to improve handling and im not into the sportlines because of the drop./. yeah the drop looks great.. but im lookin for better grab on the road under acceleration or at the track before i get some different mounts and what not..i just said handling isnt a huge issue because i feel the car handles very well stock and that ive never road raced the car before..if ur drag racing.. handling isnt a huge issue.. thats what i meant by it.. not that i dont care about handling and that i just want looks cuz thats not it at all.. i just dont road race or auotcross..and the big thing thats important to me is getting a spring on the car that feels good while normal driving but can perform well at the track.. and the car is no longer a daily driver.. so i dont have to completely worry about driving on complete **** roads all the time..

thats why i was lookin away from the pedders actually because they are a fantastic spring for auto cross and road racing from what i hear but they are expensive for that reason.. im not worried about slamming the car so to speak.. i just want it to be lowered and help with acceleration and grab at the strip..though auto crossing would be fun lol maybe i should try that out sometime if i do decide to drop the sportlines and go pedder

is it a noticeable bounce just going down the road or is it more of a u hit a big bump and u can feel the soft spring for a second and it quickly recovers?

how do the pedder springs feel on a daily driven car? maybe they will be worth a pick up if they dont drop as much but they have a nice feel...again.. not lookin for a slammed car for no reason.. just lookin for driveability and better grab at the strip

anymore personal experience to speak of?

I have the Sportlines..

Looks sexy as ****.

Drives like more of a beast. Lower and stiffer. More aggressive.

Only thing.. Not AS smooth as the stock springs.. Not a night and day difference either though.

Well worth it as long as you don't have rough roads and what not..

well twisty, autox, road courses are much different than a drag strip. If you drag then get which ever. Also look at ottp's steer rack spacers and control arm bushings.

thats a good idea.. and i actually think ima sell the sportlines and go SSC springs that ive looked at and read about...better spring rate on them so the ride should be better while still having a decent drop and having a better grab than stock at the strip..thanx for all the input guys

I LOVE my Sportlines

I've had my sportlines on for a year now (13,000 miles), still on stock shocks too :crosses fingers: I'm gonna rate my stock suspension at a 6 out of 10 cause I had a stock FE1 suspension (base). With just the sportlines...........I'd say maybe a 3 out of 10. It's pretty "solid" but more fun to drive, i think. When I upgrades sway bars, that suspension number dropped to a 2 out of 10. But again.......even more fun to drive

At even better............It got rid of my fender gaps

sportlines DO NOT increase handling. They DECREASE handling. what's so hard to understand about this? It's purely for looks.

ummm... no they dont, maybe for a SS/TC but for other model cobalts, they do not decrease performance, they are stiffer then stocker and lower, both a plus for handling, ive been in a car lowered on sportlines, handles a hell of a lot better then mine in the corners.

I have measured all these springs and the eibachs are a similar rate to the SS/SC but go through the roof when they coil bind at 6 inches of spring height compression. They are a lower spring rate than an SS/TC until they coil bind, and thats a fact....
