R1 Concepts FTW

My old front brakes were getting bad, but I didnt realize how bad until the pad was essentially gone and it was metal on metal. I noticed this on sunday night, which is terrible timing because I have to drive 5 hours this weekend.

First thing monday, I called up the local autoparts stores and their prices were pretty high to say the least, imo.

Napa:
economy pads $28.49/set
premium pads $42.74/set
rotors $39.10 each

Oreillys:
economy pads $20/set
base ceramic pads $43/set
best ceramic pads $51/set
rotors $37.99 each

that would've been $106 plus tax at napa, or $96 plus tax at oreillys for the cheapest crap they have available, which didnt really sound appealing..

so i looked up r1concepts on ebay and found their slotted rotors with ceramic pads for $117 shipped. Seemed kinda dumb not to order them over getting the cheap junk for a similar price. I ordered them right away, then called up R1 and told them I was in a time crunch and needed them by friday at the latest. Needless to say I received the parts in the mail early today, which means they shipped out from Cali to WI in a matter of two days without any extra charge for shipping.

Figured I'd share this. customer service and shipping time was excellent. I'll be going back to them if I ever need brakes again!

I guess your glad you dont have a LNF. Front pads for us start around $120 and rotors are about the same.

I do have rear premium rotors from them with hps pads and I cant complain

there the best. i e-mailed them after a sale ended here. they ended up giving me the sale price. stuff came quickly. service was excellant.

after 1/2 - a year later the premium drilled rotors and pads still look brand new, been through rain, car wash, hard breaking where anti lock kicked on... still not a scratch

R1 CONCEPTS is ONE OF THE BEST

I'll be ordering my second set of pads and rotors from them soon. Their premium rotors with hps pads lasted me about 80,000 miles before warping, and the braking power was/is fantastic! I had their eline rotors with ceramic pads on my Impala, and I was extremely satisfied with them. I might try that combination on my G5 GT this time.

My dad just ordered a set of the premium slotted rotors for his Silverado and pads (i forget which ones..) He was amazed at the price, and hopefully I won't have to replace his front brakes and rotors every 20-30k miles from now on..

sounds like yuo got a good deal

i've heard many horror storys about buying brake rotors on ebay though. a lot of the times you get the ones that were sitting upright in overstock at some shop for a long time and they get all warped before you even put them on to find out.

Agreed R1 ftw! Been on their premium blank rotors (along with hawk hps's & stainless lines) for a couple years. And the steering wheel shutter has never come back. And i have beat the **** out of them on the mountain roads here.

Yeah, the site needs some major updates (working on a new site, should be out later on this year) as you can see, we do not even have the SS/TC listed but we do have the parts. Just PM me for pricing or if you have any questions.
