Just ask Bill from GM Performance...he'll give you the real answer. I know he has a user name on this forum and LNF performance too.
there a bracket under the seat...thats what he's talking about.

the debate is weither it keeps the body from rolling or something long those lines.
and its the under seat bracket. not the seats.
we'll see if i can find him.
well takeing it out gets rid of ~10lbs and then the again its supposed to keep body from rolling or some thing
im not sure which is why i created the thread.

ok well ive never had my seat out so i dont know for sure, but unless the bracket is attached to somthing besides the body of the car (im pretty sure its not, our rear suspension is not very complex) it would be no different than sticking a 10 lb weight in your back seat

umm for some reason i actually thikn you can. i dont quite rememeber its been a while since ive taken mine out. but if i find out that you can take it out with out handling bad and then you can keep it out and keep seats then im definitly takeing it out.
IIRC, there are a total of 2 people on this forum who believed that it increases handling, and when they said so, everyone else corrected them.
Go remove it like I have before. It is a fully floating unit that has ZERO connection to the sides of the car. It fits in to a bracket, does not hold tension, and does not make the car stiffer. Therefore, it is clearly not an improvement to your suspension, and is merely a bar to help hold the seats in place, which adds weight.

very good answer. im gonna side with you but i need more than a few peoples opinion.
whats IIRC
ill have to take it out and see if i notice anything drastic. even if it does hold anything its miniscule from what im thinking.
nothing a ottp hardcore bar cant fix

The bracket is not a structural member of the car, it doesnt make it stiffer. If you remove it you lose the weight, but you also lose your seats. The back seats cant be secured to the car without it.
and thats why you take out the back seat. so there is no comfortable place to bang. well its not comfortable anyway. being 6 foot 1 its kinda cramped
