rotor lugstud holes out of round
rotor lugstud holes out of round
hey guys, having an issue with moms car here, 08 cobalt 2LT, we did brakes on the car about a year ago, and since then she has developed a knocking noise on the front right of the car. Thought maybe something on the suspension was damaged but when i pulled the wheel what i found was the holes in the rotor where they slide over the wheel studs are out of round, almost ovals, and when you go around a turn or hit the brakes the rotor seems to rock back and forth making the noise. Im concerned that this is a wheel hub issue as well, any thoughts on this?
its hard to diagnose a noise over the internet. the only help i can really give you is it shouldnt be the rotor moving back and forth against the studs. the wheel, when torqued correctly, holds the rotor in place and it shouldnt move. if the rotor is moving your wheels arent torqued properly.
does it tend to knock over bumps? id check out your swaybar links, they are a high wear item and can make a knocking noise.
