Rotors

Has anyone had any problems with their rotors....i have had my car for a month and my steering wheel started to shake excessively when i was slowing down or braking...i took the car in yesterday and they told me that some 2006 cobalts might have problems with there factory rotors and they put news one at no charge.

Yes. Total agreement here. I can hop in a completely neglected J-body and the brakes won't pulsate. Hop into any decently cared for N-body and you'll find rotor problems and hub bearing problems instantly.

Oh dude you need to hope into my Cavalier. The breaks pulsate really bad. I put new sh*t on and then like a week later its was back to the samw old pulsate again. My Cavalier is only a 03' and does this sh*t, its the one of that things that bothers me about my car.

Yeah, N-Bodies were bad.....but J-Bodies were worse! I worked in rental cars for 5 years, and every sunfire/cavalier we had (probably around 100 over those years) would start to pulse/vibrate at anywhere from 10 000-30 000KM.

I think it's a general problem with all the 2.4SS Cobalts.... the dealer just got done resurfacing mine last week.... it was covered under warranty and everything is fine now.

on the j-bodies , you cant turn the rotors you gotta replace them , ive gotten over 50,000 on the stock rotors , the j's do suck , but the n's have more of a problem and gm even had a bullitin for it on the n's due to improper lug tightening

silver streak , ill be willing to bet your problem comes back

I haven't noticed any problems yet. Is it just me or do all GM rotors suck?

Funny how this thread started... I literally just picked my car up from the dealership about an hour ago... My 06 SS Sedan was in there because the wheel would shake when I broke at highway speeds... They resurfaced the front rotors and replaced the rear rotors, they said there was some type of defect in them. Anyways the drive home was incredibly smooth, they said that a lot of 06's have been coming in for the same problem. They covered everything under warranty and it didnt cost me a dime!
