sneak peak at JBP Strut Tower Brace
Hey guy's
I got a pic from JBP of his Pre-production Tower brace, unpolished or powder coated.
it's made with 14 gauge steel, and is about 11 % stronger the the DC Sports brace.
he also says that the fitment is much better then the DC Sports brace, no forcing necessary.
what do you all think? it looks beefy to me, you can tell that it's stronger, and with a polished finish, or powder coating it will stand out much more then the DC sports.
personally I'd like to see a choice in colour for powder coating, I know that on the JBP site he plans to do an aluminum silver powder coat.
retail is about $119CND or about $105USD

no word as of yet on exactly when he'll start release, but he's just finished his testing today, so I don't imagine it will take vary long, once he's decided on the finishing.
I've actually held off on the sway bars as well to see what he's going to put out, so far his stuff as been top notch

keep in mind that it's not finished, once it's powder coated, it'll stand out much more.
and it's actually 14 gauge square tube not a peace of sheet metal, I have another pic, but it's crap quality.

I noticed, too. but I understood what you ment. but there is a big difference when it comes to folded sheet metal in comparison to extruded square metal tubing.
the tubing is much stronger.
the tubing is much stronger.

I was just about to ask which one was stronger, but i see now. I would love to give JBP my money, cuz they are a good vendor (i'll be buying most of my internals from them) but i just feel like just looking at both of them as they are, the DC seems better. A lil smaller, and better looking.... and 11%?? i don't think i'll be able to tell any way!

it looks awesome. robust and cant wait to see it with some sort of coating on it. plus the function is better. JBP gets all my hard earned $$$$.
the dc sports one is just a piece of pipe! lol. this one looks like it'll do something. ..and i had the dc sports, i couldn't get it on the damn car.

it's actually pretty easy to measure the strength of the strut bars,
I'm not 100% sure, I'll have to ask, but my best bet would be that he set up some strain gauges on the strut tower, and drove around doing some hard turns. then he just compared the value with the three tests
1-No brace
2-DC Sports brace
3-JBP brace
he may have measured the strain against the two bars aswell.

That and the noise will come down quite a bit once the weather worms up a bit.
you may have noticed that your car interior is squeakier when it's cold , that's because the plastic shrinks doe to thermal expansion.
this is the same case with the mount, the cold weather make the polyurethane shrink and harden.
so I'm expecting that the warmer will bring a more pleasant ride , that and I'll have the summer tires on again

JBP Tower Brace
How does the strut tower brace create any vibration in the car. Just curious. I have been to his web site and the only thing that he mentioned about creating vibration noise in the cab of the car was their transmission mount and engine mounts. Not quite sure Im understanding something here. Please explain in further detail.
