Snow tires - lack of handling...

So I put on my snow tires with 16" steelies... wow the car handles like crap. Does anyone think that removing the rear sway bar will improve stability in the winter. It seems like my rear end wants to swing around more now in the rain with the added amount of rubber on each side.

Anyone have any opinions?
