Squeaky Suspension Fix?

I tried searching, but couldn't find anyone with a fix...

My car's suspension is squeaking/creaking. It's cold out, 65,000 miles. I've heard people say it was the suspension bushings. Others suggested possibly the struts. Makes the noise when going slowly over speed bumps, in both the front and back.

Has anyone had this and made it go away? Perhaps if you've replaced the bushings? I'm not sure if any vendors make replacement bushings that might make this go away. Or perhaps just having a mechanic regrease what I currently have.

Any suggestions?

or if you're short on cash you can try lubing the bushings.

First of all, it's sway bar bushings he's talking about not control arm bushings.

Secondly, if you remove them and lube them, the noise will go away briefly. Maybe a few weeks.

When the rubber starts to get old, it squeeks over bumps. It's not going to hurt anything but the noise will drive you nuts.

I'm wondering if I can just order new ones from GM and replace them. I replaced some bushings on my cobra for about $30, so might as well get new ones for that price if it fixes it.

My car squeaks starting at like 6000km (when it got cold) and still does it to this day. Cry a river and move on. Its a Cobalt, not a M series

I'm not crying, I just have money and want to fix it. None of my previous cars squeaked like this unless something was broke. And it didn't start until over 60,000 miles, so it seems like something, maybe the bushings, may have worn out.

If its the front antiroll bar bushings replacing them will fix it, so will cleaning the bar and the bushing, or lubing the bushing, or wrapping the bar in carbon cloth in the bushing. Since its front and rear youve probably either just got a squeaky car, or some loose fasteners somewhere.

I just started having this exact same problem at about the exact same mileage. Mine however seems like it's on in the front. I'm getting the squeaking on slow driving over bumps, but I'm also getting a rattle in my front suspension to at slow speed over semi-to rough terrain.

So someone who won't B.S. me, What do I NEED to replace to make this stop?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Not many people here are out to straight BS you buts its hard to diagnose things over the interwebz. Most likely cause of rattle is front endlinks. Squeaking is probably the struts but could be bar bushings

Hey Mavenif the bar is not a double bolt clamp( 05-06, all LS?) could that allow squeaking? the pillow would bend up and itch?

I think I might try replacing the bushings in my strut towers when it gets a little warmer out and see if that fixes it. Anyone have an idea of the approximate life of our struts themselves? I have 68,000 miles on mine.

could be the intermediate shaft on the steering. there is a tsb for rattling while driving at slow speeds, turning, and driving over bumps. may want to have the dealership take a look at it if still under warranty

My '06 has exactly the same symptoms. It's been doing it since it had about 60,000mi on the clock. I'll be taking it into the dealer shortly, and we'll see what they have to say about it.
