SSC Springs
SSC Springs
I was thinking about getting the SSC Springs from ZZp. Anyone have these? my car is already lowered but whenever I hit a bump I feel it and im wondering if this will help at all. If not then I might go back to stock.
As in, when im driving down the highway and I see a pothole my car feels like theres no shocks. I have to go barely over speed bumps to not bottom out, and I scrape the front all the time going into dips unless I take it at an angle
I hate to break it to you, but the only way you're gonna get a more comfortable ride is to go back to stock. All lowering springs increase ride harshness. I have ssc springs, they aren't too bad, but are still more uncomfortable than stock. You gotta chided between low and good handling, or high and comfortable.
dude, you gonna have to ask yourself what two things do you like smooth or rough? if you like smooth then stay stock with 4x4 look or if you like harsh with looks, then get lowering springs. If you want both worlds get coilovers and pay to play.
I've never been lowered because I'm happy with the stock ride and don't want to spend the money on springs right now. The 4x4 look doesn't bother me. I can't see it from inside the car anyways. However, I have been told in the past that the SSC springs were the closest to stock as far as ride, when it comes to changing just springs.
I just posted a thread about the CM Springs; same company. You can check out the pics with the drop. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/susp...prings-241917/

yeah haha i posted on another thread i think about it cus i didnt know there was a difference... but heres the thing, i bought them for 30 bucks, but the springs are in an SSC box... so idk if i landed SSC or SS/SC springs lol.
Are they dark red? SSCs are dark red. SS/SC springs are black.
awww. they are black. that was my first guess, i looked at some pics of ssc springs and eibach and such, they were other colors lol. well, i still have the handling, and the snow wont bother it too much
My guess is he bought SSCs and put his stock springs in the box... But it will be a real nice upgrade from base model cobalt springs for a great price. The sticky up top helps a lot for some of these questions.
yeah, i figured as much, hahah. yeah ill look at the sticky again thanks
So SS/SC springs are a lot better than springs from an LS balt? I bought some off ebay like 2 years ago for like 35 bucks shipped (ss/sc springs) but never installed them in my car im guessing they would be a good upgrade when I change out my struts/shocks?
Yeah they will be a good bit stiffer but very mild on bumps and pot holes compared to coilovers or lowering springs. So simply for only 30 dollars or so you can have good ride qaulity with qaulity performance handling. I mean this as in compared to other cars of the Cobalt SS' class. I am just curious as to if you need a spring compressor. I changed springs without a compressor before but it was a PITA... of course it was on a mildly rusted 93 explorer sport...
Just a suggestion, if you haven't replaced your original front struts yet this might be part of your problem as to why your bottoming out so much. I just recently changed my springs with around 68,000 miles on the car and noticed the struts were bad after removing the springs. There was very little opposition when the strut bars were pushed in and they SLOWLY returned back to where they were fully extended. When I received and installed my new struts there was a major difference in the way the car handles regular everyday driving as well as bumps and potholes. I had a lot of problems with the front end bottoming out and hitting everything just as you explained.
