I tried to find some of the FTP lines, and I can't seem to find anyone that has them in stock. The FTP ones are teflon, and the goodridge ones are PTFE. wtf is PTFE and which one is better? what are some other options? i have the regular ss brakes, not the brembos.

It looks like ZZP has some, and they are in Michigan! I was pleased with the quality of the downpipe I bought from them, so I would expect decent quality from the brake lines as well.

ZZP ones only use one long line in back. Not correctly done. The rears should be 4 lines, and the fronts should be 2.

Technafit does as well, but I found out on my car that I have metric in front, and sae in back for threads. Thanks GM... Normally it should be M10x1.0, but in the rear of my car, I have 3/8"x24TPI. Go figure.

@wangspeed. why would it be only your car? what year/trim are you? I see that a lot of these brake line kits are specific to the year/trim. perhaps you received the wrong hose kit.

 

My TC ones suck ; dont sell them at the moment, I gotta get the manufacturer to change the spec., made wrong. Not a big seller and a PITA to correct. A November/December task.

i've had the ottp ones in my lsj for probably around 6 months now. i like 'em. definatly mades the brake pedal feel harder. i'd recommend them. i got red ones, and if you look hard you can see them, but they don't stand out in a bad way or anything like that.

Are the rear lines the same between the sc and the tc because I have brembo fronts I'm going to swap to over the winter and when I do I want to do steel braded lines

 

09 SS Sedan. I don't have the wrong kit. The kit is right, my car is screwy. I'm not the only one with this problem. An SS sedan near me actually has M10 on one rear side, and 3/8x24 on the other. Maven has also documented this problem.

 

My 2007 G5 GT also has the same problem. I have the FTP lines on the front, but stock on the back. I put them on about 2 years ago, but I'll be replacing them with something else soon. The plastic strain relief parts near the fittings don't seem to hold up very well, and I'm worried about the lines failing.

 

I'm ordering some custom 3/8 x 24 lines from a friend of mine that is a brake parts dealer. He sources his lines through Technafit. Should be able to do the same for you if you like.

 

Is that kit compatible with all cobalts or just the lsj and lnf?

 

In case you didn't know FTP use's technafit products. I called technafit a long time ago and they sent me to FTP.

 

I was just replying to toolman, who has the same screwy issue that I do. Metric in front, SAE in back.

 

I'm in no rush to change the rear lines. I've been considering just having the fittings on the hardlines changed to metric. It's just a flare fitting, right? That way I don't have to deal with it if I ever have to change brake lines again.
