the last time I had something powdercoated the coating exploded off and started to crack like crazy. My air intake looked like a candy cane. from the pic the strut tower looks to black, which is what I would take.

It's a very dark gunmetal color, a little darker than the ss/sc wheels but it's so far back you can barely see it.

Anyone who has installed so far, have any of you had problems on the passenger's side rear bolt? I cannot seem to get the bar to go over that stupid bolt. I even tried jacking the car up and setting it back down like suggested in the instructions and the little bastard just will not fit over that.

I had a little trouble getting mine on, just followed the instructions and took all three nuts off, jacked car up so bolts drop down a little (had to push down on tire to make strut drop), and it slid right on. Your car on level ground?

That's the one I installed on my 05 SS, so I'd say it fits.

Yeah I took the nuts off and dropped it three different times, maybe I need to push down on the tire too, I haven't tried that. That's my next step.

Cause for concern?

OK now this has me worried...

Oldbenwa, I tried your suggestion, jacking it up till the tire is off the ground and pushing down on it, only the tire never left the ground and the bolts never dropped. Now I'm a little concerned that I have a busted shock. I've noticed a lot of loud noise on that side of the car and a REALLY loud thump going over bumps. I did nail a really bad drain about a month and a half ago. I'm concerned that this might be the problem. I used the front jack point to jack up the car, jacked it up as high as the jack would go, the front tire was still firmly on the ground, but the BACK tire was slightly off the ground. Makes me really think there might be a serious problem with the passenger's side front suspension....now the strut brace is wedged in there so tight I'm having a hard time getting it back out to put the nuts back on and take it in for service.

Anyone else have suggestions/ideas?

Says so right in the installation instructions. It's to drop the 3 bolts that the brace goes over. You drop those down then drop the car and it recenters the bolts and in theory they brace should go right over them.

Alleycat, I don't know what to say about that. I'd probably bring it in and have the dealer look at it before installing the brace.

I just uploaded some pics of it installed on my car:

The purpose of jacking the car up is so that the strut drops down a little bit, making the bolts drop down a little bit, making it easier to drop the brace over the bolts.

Yeah, mine almost went on without having to jack it up. Bolt was off by about 1/16".

How you liking the car after installing the brace? Notice a difference?

That's what mine's off by right now. NO CLUE how to fix it, I've jacked it up at least 8-9 times now and dropped it, nothing. Now the brace is jammed in there so tight I can't pull it out to get the bolts back on so I can get it in for service.

I might even go so far to say it's only off by 1/32", it is SO CLOSE, the only thing it's even hitting keeping it from going on are the threads on the damn bolt. SOOOOOOO frustrating.

Because it's not on there, I still no matter what I do absolutely cannot get it over that last bolt. Hence why it needs to be out of there, so I can put the nuts back on. I can't drive it as is because the nuts haven't been replaced, the bar is just wedged in there...

Have you tried pushing down on the black center piece in the middle of the strut tower? Or pushing down on the strut itself in the wheel well? Maybe tapping very lightly on the bolts with a hammer? All with car jacked up of course.

Okay everyone, sorry for the delay, and I know you have seen pics by now, but here are more. Now before you look, I know SOMEONE is going to want to say something about me having the engine cover still on, but I like the way it looks!

Is there anyway, you could get like a bunch of big guys to pick the car up from that side, at least long enough for you to slip the brace over the bolt?

Mine wasnt a perfect fit, and I had the car up and down a few times, before I realized I had not taken all three nuts off, I only took off two, but when I DID take of the third one, jacked it up, it went on just fine.
