Suspension Questions Help

ok i just got my car lowered on springs and the two bolts that hold the strut to the knucke were beyond a pain to get off. in the process one nut got pretty beat up and rounded.

now my question is does it pay to get another nut (some wierd specialty size i'd imagine) or is the dealer going to switch out bolts/nuts anyways when they have to do an alignment in order to get the camber correct??

I havent lowered my car but I know on my truck the two bolts at the bottom of the front strut/shock whatever it is was a pain, I took heat to it and it finally broke loose. I would buy the nut.

we don't have camber adjustability. you would need a camber kit. thats not something the dealer would have. and the camber isn't an issue when you lower it. it should still be in spec, the toe is all we can adjust up front

they wont replace the nuts for free. If they need to they will ask you if you want to buy new ones.

Just get it from the dealer. Can't be more then a few bucks. If you get one from a hardware store or something it won't be right and could snap and cause other problems.

good decision.. it will only cost a few bucks which will save from potential hundreds by using a substitute

Well, we can adjust camber a littleeee bit. But not much. there are markings on the strut that allow you to open up the bolt hole to make extra camber adjustment to stay within spec. Of course, those markings can be abused to add extra camber

how necessary is an alignment after a drop.. i mean i know i need it but everyone in my college town here wants $76+ just for a freaking toe adjustment on an alignment!! im not paying that kinda money for that..

so would it be ok to drive 4 hours back home where i know alignments are much much cheaper? or is that going to spell disaster for tire wear?

It's ok, as long as you don't drive it for months without doing the alignment.
