suspension setup
suspension setup
Newb here,
I will be trading in my 2001 Camaro SS this fall for an 07 cobalt ss/sc. I never felt the need to mod my camaro except for exhaust, intake, etc.
However, after browsing though .net I know that I would like to purchase brake and clutch upgrades for my soon to be cobalt.
I have previously done such work on my 99 Z24 but I have never done any suspension upgrades.
I have seen strut and sway bars for sale on Gravana but here is my question.
What are all the possible suspension upgrades and all the possible wheel-hop mods.
I want to concentrate on preparing the car for power upgrades later on by setting up the car's handling and structural rigidity first, I would like to do everything possible and then go for power upgrades with peace of mind.
I am trying to gather the info now so that I can save my pennies for this fall
Thanks guys
Josh

well by the time u trade the camaro, in which i dont think you should, there should be coilover kits and full suspension kits out there for the ss s/c. come on seriously, trading your Camaro SS for a ss s/c, keep it and buy the ss s/c. seriously. they dont make camaro's anymore, theyre gonna go up in value.
there is not much out for the cobalt yet in terms of suspension
you've got a couple spring choices
a strut tower bar
no sway bar options
no strut/shock options
a torque brace
and filling your engine mounts
and thats about it I believe, u can search the forum for brands of each. By 07 though there SHOULD be more available options.

Thanks for the input. I realise that it is dumb to trade in my camaro but I would be financially pressed to afford the insurance on both vehicles and I don't want to just park it and cancel my policy. Plus, I really want the cobalt.
Personally i would keep the camaro. Have you test driven a SS/SC?, i think you'll find going from a RWD to a FWD not as much fun as you think it would be, theres nothing like bringing it home with a fishtail around the corner. I love my SS/SC but after driving my dads truck i need something with a good amount of power thats RWD, you just can't beat it.
u will def miss the brute rwd horespower of the 5.7, but let me tell you i did the same exact thing. after saving up enough money after i came back from overseas i purchase my dream car 2000 camaro ss. well it ended up only being my weekend summer car, which their intended for, but after a few years it just became two inpratical for a 23 year old to have. so i traded it in last summer for an 05 ss/sc and had no regrets. dont get me wrong, a cobalt ss/sc cannot even be compared to a camaro ss, but believe me, i enjoy driving this car a lot more than i ever did in my camaro. i am sure you will aggree as well.
