Suspension Upgrades

So I've been reading through on the Sticky posts, various FAQ's, and I've had a post that just dipped into some questions.

I want an opinion from some of the people who have the 05-06 Cobalt LS Sedan that have done modifications.

What works good for you, do you see an advantage of a front sway, or just rear?
(Some cars have no benefit from front, I've seen it as a trend in Economy cars.)

I want to lower, I know cutting is dumb, but in addition to lowering, should I change my struts? Or would factory be enough?

I want to lower about 1 inch, not much more, I just want the benefits of increased handling, lowered wind resistance (that's a big thing, I hate wind shear) and a more aggressive stance.

In addition to lowering should I increase my wheel size? I have 195's on right now. I know with lowering you limit tire size, I think it's got 15'' steelys. If I can keep this, that would be ideal.

As for brands, I am completely oblivious to what Is crap and what is quality. So for someone who is entry level, what are some good places to start?

A lot of performance components to the car I am naive of. So if there are some good reads or books on the 06 Sedan LS, (or FE1 Suspension) I'm all ears...or err, uh eyes?

Sway bars make a HUGE difference on the LS, stock ones are quite soft. Front and rear is recommended

Changing the struts is highly recommended if youre looking for better handling, SS/TC struts/shocks are very nice

SS/TC or SS/SC spring will lower you about 1"(little less in front little more in back), Eibach ProKit is over a 1" drop front and rear

205/60-15 will fit just fine and youll find a good selection of nice rubber in that size too, nothing crazy, but worlds better than the stock tires.

Eibach, gm parts online or used for springs, OTTP or Eibach for rear sway bar, gm parts online for front sway and strut/shocks.

This is probably the most information youll find in one spot anywhere regarding Cobalt suspension
My thoughts.

Thanks for responding!
I'll def look into some of that.

Will the GM parts just be on their website?
Or will I have to go hunting around?

Also, price ranges on this kinda stuff?
(Say I did all you recommended.)

Just so I can have a tangible goal.

you can probably find someone here too that is selling stock ss/sc springs. I dont think you will really see much if anything as far as wind resistance difference as its a 4dr ls that i imagine your just going to drive around town as opposed to track racing. deffinitly do front and rear swaybars you will notice a nice gain in cornering. Id reccomend changing struts out anytime you lower any vehicle. if you do konis youll deffinitly be happy. I was. Also if your only lowering an inch you wont see any sort of a problem with limited tire size. im in mystic CT as I see your from CT as well

So what I get from what you're saying is I can swap out SS/SC springs and Sways?
The 05-06 are interchangeable with the LS 06 FE1.

It's FE5 parts on the SS/SC? (Correct me if wrong.)

My goal is to make the car as much like an SC/TC as possible because I enjoy a nice, fast, but reserved car.

So what I want to do is start with performance on the suspension, because power is useless if you can't turn worth a ****. Or that's how I see it.

Mystic is way away from me.
I used to live on the shore, in Westbrook.

Yes you can swap out FE1 and FE5 suspensions. I agree with you hundred percent. Power is useless if your car cant handle :-) I like the way you think
