Thinking about doing a 4 to 5 lug swap, need input..

I'm looking for helpful opinions and insight on this project. So I drive an LS with the 4x100 lug pattern and am really thinking about doing a 5 lug swap to the 5x110 bolt pattern. I've read that swapping to disc brakes in the rear when doing this throws the brake bias off and it is not recommended. One of my questions is can I swap in a 5 lug drum brake setup for the back and not have to worry about throwing the bias off? Also, I see when swapping from drum to disc, you have to swap the whole rear suspension out to one that comes with disc brakes already, but if I stick with the 5 Lug Drums could I swap out the actual drum/brake parts that make it 5 lug without having to change the rear suspension?

swapping the front seems easier because all I would have to do is swap the Wheel bearing/hub to the 5 bolt one. Now the question here is can I use the disc brakes in the front from a 5 lug LT? I guess another question would be, do LT's have the Brake caliper as an LS, or is their brake setup different in the front?

This is just something I am thinking about doing because I already have two sets of aftermarket rims that are 5 lugs and think they would look good on the balt. Any information is appreciated, I'm trying to piece together as much information as I can before attempting to try this.

I'm confused on a couple things.

1) where are you going to find a donor 5x100 car? IIRC That's not a GM bolt pattern, at least not a common one. At least not in recent models. 5x114.5, 5x112 come to mind with 5x100
2Now where it gets confusung is when you start using the 5 lug LT EQUIPMENTwhich is 5x110. THE PROBLEM I SEE, assuming u researhced it thoroug and you're just testing the wrong waters. WHY do yuo want to do it. And does it have any other purpose?

So what, specifically, is your task?

FIXED, stupid typo on my part, i meant the 5x110 bolt pattern. I want to do it to use the rims that I already have that have just been sitting in my garage, instead of going out and buying a new set of rims and tires and hopefully upgrading the brakes to better ones later on. I want to do a 5 lug conversion on my LS. But I read in someone's post on here that swapping to discs in the rear will throw the proportioning off from the stock drum setup that I have. That is why I was asking questions about using drums off an LT that come in the 5 lug setup, would it eliminate the brake bias problem?

It's been done but it's not easy foolin with the rear brake isue. You COULD try and find a 5x110 car that has drums, but you might get sucked into needing hubs too.and you'll need a tech II from a dealer to reprogram the VSS calculation.

You mighr not have to do any of it I'm just thinking of what's most likely to go wrong.

The LTs that were 5 lug because the had 4 wheel disc as an option. LT with 5 lug drums would be a rare beast to find

Didnt mean to miss that, I was looking on ebay and came across this too, looks pretty good, I'm just trying to think of some different options rater than doing the entire rear swap (if is even possible).

I'd stick with 4x100 if I were you. You have a huge selection of 4x100 wheels, at very reasonable costs, to choose from.

However, if you really just want to convert to 5 lugs, then go up in the 'sticky' section here in 'suspension' and consider going to 5x114.3 rather than 5x110. You have the same huge selection of wheels if you go to 5x114.3.

Iif you go to 5x110, your selection of wheels drops dramatically -- everything is more expensive (less competition) -- and you're kind of screwed. Just a thought.

I have wrestled with the 5x110 pattern for several years, I have found probably every wheel maker in the world that makes 5x110 stuff (there's not very many), and have finally made custom wheel adapters to mount 5x114.3 wheels, and I'm happy for it.

He already has the wheels, hence why he wants to make the swap.

IMO, sell the wheels and get something that's already 4x100 if you don't want rear discs.

I was thinking about doing this also once I read the sticky about it a while back, it was one of the things that got me thinking about doing it, but I'm not sure exactly what went into it, it looks like he did some fabrication work in the rear, but I dont have that available for me to use.
