tire rub issue (pics)

Today i was wetsanding and polishing my freshly painted rims and when i pulled off the back to wheels i noticed some SEVERE tire rub issues, its on the inside of the tire as you can tell in the pics. Im wondering if anyone has had this issue on lowering springs. Also the tire is a 225/40 so thats not an issue. Any feedback would be great!

Note: The entire tire isnt like this all the way around, this is the worst spot of the two.

Im thinking this may be the culprit but it doesnt seem too close to the tire when i lowered it back down.

A wider view to get an image of where i suspect the problem is.

And the finished product if anyone cares lol.

Thanks!

To me that looks like a flat spot. Thats kind of weird that it would only rub in 2 spots on the tread part of the tire.

And btw the rims look very good. Good Job!

I think he meant the inner edge of the tire? It looks rubbed off a bit in the pic

Thanks, and yeah it is only on certain parts of each tire, definitely happens when im going over bumps.

ddsscobalt: the neogens are great tires, i have no complaints

395plus: Yeah definitely the inner edge of the tire it worn down ALOT on that spot, you can see the tread disappear

bumpedd

thats not a rubbing spot.... its whats called a slipped belt basicly the steel belt in the tire has moved thats y its not all the way around the tire... keep that tire in the BACK of the car. i can take a picture of my tire at work if you like i have the same problem cause my car to pull to that side like a s.o.b. its also dangerous to drive on like that so i replaced mine.. a slipped belt over time can cause a blow out depending on your driving habbits.. but i work at a tire shop and have seen this before especially on low pro tires like ours.

Thats wierd, I'm lowered on the same tires. On 2 i did notice some inner wear. But I have a spare Neo Gen in that size that I'd prob be able to help you out with if you need one. Just let me know

wow that's pretty severe for rubbing and not hearing anything. Do you have a picture of the whole wheel well? there would be plenty of built up rubber if it were rubbing.

Never heard of a slipped belt, but that's interesting.

that's the thing there's no built up rubber in the wells, I'm taking it to big o and see if I can't get two new neogens out of it. I'm starting to think it is belt slip, its just weird its only on the rear tires, I'm stumped

No. This is on my 2.4 SS Sedan car not on my SS/SC. Those tires only had about 20-25k on them IIRC. I've only been running stock tires on the SC but been lowered for over 30k.

It's prob just a bad batch of tires. Not like the whole Nitto line is crap. I bet if you looked at the DOT dates they'd all be about the same

Sundevil, I hope they replace them under manufacture defect. They should
