Vibration from lowering

I was wondering why some people have the vibration after installing lowering springs and some don't. What is being don't different on installing the springs that causes people not to have the vibration. I thought the cause of this was due to the angle of the drive axles when lowered. If that's true everyone would have this problem. What the deal with this, can someone shed some light on the problem.

some springs are lower than others. the ones that are too low cause vibration.

I have the H&R springs, the fronts are extremely low, almost tucked. I get a vibration under acceleration.

Pedders for one. Sportlines seem to have very few issues. I'm sure the H&R sports are better in this regard than the Race model.

I used to run sportlines with no issues at all. Pedders are great springs. Id say get some tc struts/shocks and a set of pedders. If you have the cash.

I've had pedders and sportlines. The pedders were better than the sportlines but still had vibration when starting from a light. I have all new suspension parts including drive axles.

do you have motor mounts?

Have you checked you wheel bearings?

Is one of your rims bent?

New stock motor mounts, new tires and rims, new bearings. I can't be the only one who has tried different springs and had the same results. It's got to be how gm designed the suspension

No, because i've gone through a few different suspension setups and never had any kind of vibration issues. I'd be confident in saying 98% of all lowered balts here would agree with me.

Installation error maybe?

I don't think so because everytime I put the stock springs back in it drives perfect. I've owned ssc springs,b&g, h&r, pedders and sportlines with all the same problem.

Something is up then. I've installed 2 sets of sportlines, my set of pedders, a set of H&R Race's, and my k-sport coilovers, and i've never had vibration issues.

I know. Is there something special you have to do when installing the springs on the strut. Ive been using the spring compressors to intall them with no problems. They are the same ones I use to install the stock springs. I have no clue what could be the problem.

Could you share a quick step by step on how you install your springs on the front. It seems like you have it figured out perfect. It would be greatly appreciated

support the knuckle/strut with a jack.

remove the top endlink nut, disconnect endlink.

remove strut/knuckle bolts. re-insert them without pressing them in, and finger tighten the nuts.

remove top nut with impact.

Slowly lower the jack to release tension. when tension is released, remove knuckle bolts along with the strut and spring. Install spring on strut and make sure the tab on the top hat is pointing to the tip on the last top coil, then reinstall everything, using the jack to compress everything back together.

Be careful to not let your axles over-extend.

If you're lazy like me, i just remove the entire strut/spring combo and bring it to a mechanic with a wall mounted spring compressor and have him swap out the springs. I double check to make sure the spring is seated correctly, and pay $30. Saves me a lot of time and effort.

Make sure you check this.

Just a thought: Engine alignment harmonics are going to be worse when lowered than at stock height. Stock motor & transmission mounts are known to cause bad harmonics.

I've seen TC struts & shocks with Pedder springs recommended, but would go a step further.

Add rotated motor & trans mounts & rack spacers.

The tip of the springs don't fall out in the same spot with the different brands of springs. It's been posted in the past that the tab is supposed to face towards the motor in line with the strut shaft.

Mine have never faced towards the motor. Post where you found that.

I don't know where it was posted but I know when I first changed my springs from stock they were facing the motor from the factory

I had tenzo's and had a vibration, now I'm on air-ride and no vibration. I have heard that its the way the axle sits after being dropped though
