WARNING: Get an alignment!

A few months back, I installed my sportlines with my fe5 suspension. I was running ss 18's with 215/45/18s on them. I drove to a bunch of local places afterwords to get an alignment done, and every single one of them denied me for the fact that I was lowered, so eventually I gave up and drove on my unaligned suspension. I regret this 100% now and its going to cost me a few hundred for new tires on my front.

I always noticed a slight pull to my drivers side, but never though anything of it. Today I went to the store to buy some shoes, got out, and my tire was flat. Apon further evaluation, I saw this:

Something (not quite sure yet) rutted out the entire inside of my drivers side tire, all the way through. It could have blow out any minute and I would have been way more fucked than this, luckily it ended peacefully. My passengers side tire was perfect.

Now, you should learn a few things from this:

A) Get an alignment done, or you're gonna dish out cash for new tires.
B) Regularly go over your cars modifications to make sure they arent causing any damage.
C) If something doesnt feel right, it isnt right.

when you assembled the strut, you should have pushed it inwards, if you mark the Spindle with paint before dissasembly, you can get it close.

that would give him negative camber, which is why the insides wore out so bad, it needs to be pulled out for + camber

most people think its camber that kills tires, not actually, negative camber is good on the track and a little extra doesnt wear the tires that much, its the toe that really does the damage

I put my stocks on until after I get an alignment.... **** this is getting expensive.

300 + for 2 tires (even though I paid less than that for rims/tires combo).
?? how much for alignment.

yea the whole thing where they aren't going to align you bc your lowered is bullshit, just say you need one and they should just take your money period. Had the same problem when I went to sportlines like I was an ******* for lowering my car or something? lol Maybe it's just something I'm missing here about aligning the car lowered though?

it is and some shops who don't know what they are doing won't do an alignment on a lowered vehicle. most performance shops will because they know how to align lowered vehicles. a lowered alignment is slightly tweaked then a stock alignment.

not every buisness has the machines that are set up for low cars (corvettes, vipers, bagged vehicles) they can always put a board under the ramps to make the incline less agressive but it still comes down to that if they drive the car on the ramp and scratch something, they are at fault and that cost more than the alignments worth. not only that but lowering a car will severely throw out the alignment and with the amount of adjustments that say the cobalt has (.1-.2+-) its not only going to do no good but its more of a liability unless you buy cam bolts or drill out the strut. but who wants to pay that if they just spent 80 on the alignment.

2 months go by you have inner wear on your tires, first thing you will say is they fucked you and they will have to decide on which course of action to take, you will call corperate and you will win because they dont want bad word of mouth....ive been threw that whole ****....people want things free and its not worth the bullshit, so i would say no to that unless its someone i know
