will this fit
you can fit ion springs on a cobalt if you install an Ion top spring plate on the spring strut assembly. The Ion front spring is larger in diameter at the top, same as cobalt at the bottom. Rear springs are the same fit. Problem is, if you did the front conversion the assembly may not fit in the tower house....
Just suck it up and buy some aftermarket springs...DO NOT cut your springs and DO NOT buy Dropzone springs...other than that, anything that will fit is better than nothing.
You can search through the classifieds and find a used set of springs at a pretty good price...
If you can't afford aftermarket, then just get a set of SS/TC springs, they go for cheap and are a little lower than factory.

Dropzone is basically an ebay spring...a lot of people have bought them and complained about squeaking and what not...I don't think anybody has had a spring fail on them yet, but I wouldn't trust it.
You definitely won't get an 1.5 inches from SS/SC or SS/TC springs...I know SC springs are maybe .5 inch...TC might be the same or a tad bit more.
B&G, H&R, Eibach, Tenzo R are the brands you should look into (may be others I forgot to mention) and just find a used set...you'll save a ton that way.
