To not bog you need to have the cutoff set with respect to your gearing, with a few hundred RPM error.
ie) LSJ, F35 tranny, 7000RPM redline - set to ~5100RPM +/- ~100RPM

Too low, and the engine can't lower the RPM fast enough, hence your engine 'dying'.

No its not. You can vary the rev limiter by ECT.

Change what I have painted the arrow to and it will change your resume point.

Edit: After trying my hardest on my way home from work to duplicate the problem of hitting the P/N rev limiter while moving I think its safe to say this problem is tuner error.

You guys having this problem are either setting the hysteresis way too wide, using an in gear modifier less than 2 for some reason, or are running your p/n limiter at less than half of your in gear limiter. Any of these errors will cause you to bounce off the p/n limiter.

When correctly tuned, this mod works just fine.

Your p/n limiter can go as low as half of your in gear limiter and you'll never touch the p/n while the car is in motion.

Yep, I had it set to less than half the In Gear RPM. Because I don't launch at 4500rpms. If you want to launch at 4500-5100 rpms then I'm sure it works fine. I don't think most people would enjoy that, and using it as a 2-step for most people is out of the question in ill advised. If you have the capability of launching it safely from those RPMs then you are a step ahead of most people.

the whole "fuel cutoff" thing scares me. espeically at 10psi out of the hole.

reminds me of the rev limit on the 96-98 4v mustangs

yeah I know that's the one major thing I don't like about our rev limiter.
I've seen in other pcm's it lets you change it to spark or ETC

lol, well yeah, I'm pretty sure that helped the motor go boom.
I try and never hit my limiter..... it almost makes scary explosion sounds and large ***** of fire come out of my car occasionally

Just don't forget to change your in gear modifier to whatever your redline is divided by your p/n limiter.

Dan said the HHR SS launches at 5200rpm on the stock two step.

Watch your EGT gauge Robin.

I don't use one but there are a couple turbo cars around here that do, one with a fairly large sized one at that.
