2006 SS engine performance questions

Hi, my girlfriend has a 2006 Cobalt SS non-supercharged and I was wondering what performance upgrades can be done to her car that are failry simple and won't cost and arm and a leg.. She doesn't know much about that kind of stuff and I know very little about Chevy's myself. How much HP/TQ does this come with from the factory? Without going Forced Induction what cheaper upgrades are available like ECU flash upgrade or less restrictive Intake or exhaust? It's not a slow car now by no means but I want to get a few performance goodies for her car so it will be a little faster. Also any links or websites to order aftermarket parts or body kits and/or exterior body parts.

Thanks again for any help yall can give me.

Thanks so far guys. It's an automatic btw. I own a VW GTI so I know about flashing the computer but is it similar for the Cobalt or tuning it requires more than just a software upgrade?

totally different, generally, you're going to need to take it to a good tune shop and have them do it.

there are "canned" tunes, but again, it's not as easy as on a VW, plug thing in, push button.

no prob, the canned tunes come in two types, first off, you send your ECM to them, they tune it, send it back. the only really issue there is the turn around. the second is that jet modules, makes a plugandplay system, which takes about... 2 minutes.

Intake, Catback exhaust, and a Tune is a nice little combo for these cars. Definitely woke my car up quite a bit.

Sounds like an intake, exhaust and a basic tune is what I'll get done for her then. Does teh magnaflow exhaust sound good. I don't want anything too loud since it's gonna be on her car. I want something subtle but not whimpy sounding either.

Magnaflow is a very deep sounding exhaust. With the stock header/downpipe combo, it's not too loud at all.......but it still sounds very good.
