Question could this work?

Hey all!

i ordered a OBD2 cord and i just got it today.. what i didn't realize is that the dang cord is an extension for a OBD2 adapter.. not the adapter itself.. so i cant use it now like i thought lol but my main question this... can you some how make the extension hook up to the laptop to the car without actually getting the adapter? i got experience in hooking electrical stuff. i just wana know if by doing your own rig-up if it would fry anything haha

Thanks

Almost positive the cheapest way to read OBD2 is getting a Bluetooth adapter and getting Torque 2 on your smart phone.

There is a translator in the OBD2 adapters, you can't just hard wire it to a port on your computer.

There's no way to make it work without some sort of an interface to communicate between the pcm of the vehicle and a laptop. A simple obd2 extension would not have this.
