Jet Chip Module on 2.2.... Doesn't fit!!!

So I just received my Jet Chip Module and it doesn't fit. The connectors do not fit over the module, and the plugs are not vertical as they are in the 2.4, they are side by side and the module it blocked by another plug from fitting.

I have contacted Jet about the issue and I am going to see what they can do to fix the issue.

Just wanted to let you 2.2 guys know.

Stage 1. If you look at your ECU, the plugs are side by side

I didn't know these worked for our cars?

Why not just get a custom tune from Trifecta?

Becaue this is a removable tuning option that doesnt require a different grade of gas

It is a tuning option that can be removed. Some of the 2.4 guys are doing it since it is less expensive than HP tuners and you do not have to rely on someone who may or may not know what they are doing.

They have been cracked, but this module is a piggy back that intercepts the signals and changes them to the preset settings in the module

I wouldn't try and change any signals with that "chip" if I were you.

All you'll end up doing is miss firing at high RPM and if you're auto , miss shifting too.

Return it.

its not a "chip" the company is called jet chip. It is a piggy back module. It is proven, the company is proven and they have been around for a VERY long time and many car enthusiasts swear by them in other platforms.

There are MULTIPLE members already who have the module, and MULTIPLE threads regarding it.

If you would like to comment again, go do some research. It is no different than the B&M Shiftplus that we both have on our cars. It interrupts a signal, alters it, and sends it on its way.

I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE SEEING THE WORD "CHIP" AND AUTOMATICALLY ASSUMING IT IS GARBAGE.

and what do you know about it? tell me where all your proof is? I mean, drivers have been using them for years and years and obviously Jet Chip does pretty good for themselves. But I guess you know more than everyone else? right?

I didn't just purchase some part, I did my research, check the threads, I am in everyone, including the two largest ones. I was a driving force on this site because I decided to not accept the "resistor in a box" mentality, and there are multiple members on here already that love this mod. inexpensive.... removable... and just enough performance to make them happy.

Hell, I even just bought an interceptor so I could shut some of you haters up. So now, I will work with Jet, get this fixed, and move on.

Congrats, you went turbo, I don't want that. I don't want to spend $500 and get a canned tune that requires a higher grade of gas that is not even available in RI (why did they make the tune for 92 octane?). I wanted something to give my car a little something more.

I again to challenge anyone on this site to do as much research about this project as I did and show me that it does not work. Hell, I challenge you to find ONE user on this site who has purchased and installed the Jet Chip Module and thinks it is garbage, thinks it is a resistor in a box....

Then again... I guess the kid who puts LED's in everything might know a thing or two about resistors?

According to Jet, they hope to have a redesigned unit in about 2 months. They were unaware their website still showed the 2.2 application, and will be deleting that reference, as will we. Sorry you had trouble, please return for a 100% refund.
So here is the response. I guess they are redesigning so it will take a few more months... annoying, but at least I will get something eventually. So us 2.2's will have something.

My 2.4 ECM connectors are side by side and the ECMs sold by GM have the same part number listed for the 2.2 and 2.4.

Please post some pics of your ECM and the Jet Chip module you have.

Take a look at my install:

Doesn't your ECM look like this? My 06 LS auto had the same layout as my 07 SS/NA auto.

And for the posters that haven't seen these Jet Chip Modules -- the stage 1 module got rid of my low end power lag and the guys running the stage 2 modules like them too. I'm not stating that they're better then a tune, but if you can't find a tuner they are awesome!

I just looked through the 06 and 07 factory service manuals. Both the 2.2 and the 2.4 ECMs have the same type conectors -- there are three connectors on my 2.4 ECM that go side-side. The top one is C1 and has 56 pins and the center C2 has 73 pins -- this is where the module goes. The bottom connector C3 also has 73 pins and people are mistakenly installing the module on the bottom because of the Jet Ship Instructions (their instructions show a 2-connector generic GM ECM that makes it look like the module goes in the bottom connector).

How many connectors are on the 2.2 ECM? My 06 service manual only shows descriptions for C1 and C2

The Trifecta Tune doesnt require you to change your fuel, you can ask Vince to change it for you but you can leave it at regular like i did. Just correcting your statement.

I'm telling you this based on using the FIC to tune my car.

It alters signals too but even with it just isntalled it seems to cause missfires.

Good luck either way

Justin how much did the Jet chip cost you?

Also, I've been searching threads about how this module works. It seems to me that it just is a bunch of resistors and such rather than an actual tune like one would get through HPT. I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, but maybe someone could shed some light on the pros and cons of this versus "HPT style tuning."

According to Jet Chip it is a 30 Mhz computer that alters the fuel and timing by preset tables. They make no mention of resisters.

JEGS sells them for $239(S1)-$249(S2)

That's not a bad price considering its a canned 'removable' tune. Easy enough to conceal on warranty visits. I mean mine is up in 3,000k but still.

Mine does not look like that. I will try and take a picture later. Basically It is more:

That is basically my setup with the one larger connector on the left being the 73 pin connection.

I talked to them and they said their tune is based on 92. Never said anything about lower octanes

Looks like there are several versions of ECMs out there:

This is what the service manuals show for the 2.2 ECM:
