timing and you
so im doing a little experiement here with the timing tables.
i went rom my ultra aggressive timing table, back to the stock stage 2 timing table. smoothed out.
something i noticed. i had way too much timing in it down low, to the point where the car was not happy with it. using the vacuum side of boost gauge to judge this. i know it's not the most accurate, but it works for what im doing.
before, going up the test hill. i had to run 0-1psi to get up it at the same speed.
now, same hill, same speed -10 to -5 in/hg whats this mean? gas mileage!
the fuel side, and pe tables are the same, have not logged wot yet to see what it does, or how much timing gm wants you to run on the stage 2 stuff. i may do that later and add to the post. as for right now, this is what i was concerned with, part throttle timing. my theory original was wrong. so i went back to square one. more timing is not always better, at least down low. up top, only trap speed and dyno time will tell that one

06-07?
each one is different per year.
im pullin down 36 mpg, without touching the ve tables.
my original thinking was that, ok more timing down low, less throttle input. ehhh not so much. i went too far with it. hence why i went back to the stockish stage 2 timing table.
also keep in mine, your coolant temps, and IAT temps add or subract timing when you get to a certain temp. so, just because you put in "18.00" in the 1.08 field doesn't mean it is going to run 18 degree's. there is multiplier tables and other factors to think of as well

if i told ya, id have to kill ya.
magic fingers

aside from that, your timing table is identical to mine. there is more room in yours, but since you are going to a smaller pulley it will be peachy on it right now. i have to run that table due to ambient temps being so irratic here, so i know that it is safe. fuel table on yours is richer then mine. IE water injection difference. torque managment is the same. there is a few differences that you won't notice, but i won't go into detail about that

Area47 I think you should tune my stage 2 with 2.9".
How much power/smoothness do you think it would get? Can you tune someone if they do not have a wideband?
I would love to have HP tuners to be able to log some data and just see how the car actually runs but I don't want to spend 500 bucks and not know what the hell I am doing.

Mr lion {formal isn't it} there are some very good tuners around your area. you come to kc with the car, or fly me out there. either option. aside from this, to get to fully understand what your car is doing, what X does when you change Y, you have to have some sort of knowledge about what your doing. or things could go blamo. just have to start slow then work your way up from there. i have messed with two cars now with stage 2, and 2.9's i can't send you a map because both cars acted different. i don't have blanket maps for cars. every car is different, i treat them as such. some like more timing then others. some like less fuel, or more fuel. no two tunes should ever be the same. one thing i will not do, is build a kill tune for someone. i can't have that resting on my mind knowing it could pop at any moment.
Thanks for answerin me. I think it would be cool to have a couple tunes set up on a laptop that I could just throw on. A good gas saver tune, like this thread is about, a good tune for the summer and a good one for the winter.

***** out, OMGHIIBLOWMOTOR to daily driver, to my mom is driving the car mode.
Area, I'll be moving back to Lawrence August 8th, and chances are good that we will meet before the Midwest Meet. I guess what I'm saying here is you'll have another 07 SS/SC Stage 2 to add to your list of tunes soon.

stage 2 tunes are easy to do actually, so don't freak when it doesn't take me that long to do
This is some great info. I'm going to take a look at my timing tables here real soon anyhow. I guess my current tune I made is pretty good though considering I just got 38MPG with 60lb injectors at 80mph! WOOT!

that is more of your maf settings than anything else really. i average 33-36 degrees at part throttle. i usually get 28 in the city, and 34 highway. which is peachy for me
I'm just gonna go ahead and use you guys as a reference when my clients ask me what kind of mileage they'll get from their Cobalt. Sticker says 22 City 30 Highway. Yeah thats average but srsly... who's gonna buy a cobalt to be an average driver?
