When you're logging in HPTuners

When you guys who have hptuners are logging, where do you put the computer? I've been placing it on the passenger seat for a while now but I just don't like the idea of it sliding around while making the slightest turn.....They sell some laptop stands on ebay but you have to drill into something in the car....and I don't want to do that just yet....Is there any other way to keep the computer strapped down safely??

I bought a mount from www.ram-mount.com which is very similar to what the cops use.
The setup is removable, all but the mounting points (3) which aren't noticable.
I have pics somewhere....maybe I'll find them.

RAM-316-3BA1U @ $164...it can be found cheaper. Try to buy one and it will take you to a listing with retailers who sell it cheaper.

Heres an Idea, go get on of those big straps the people use on suitcases. Pu the notebook on the passanger seat, put the strap across the notebook, then under the seat then bring it through the seat, and snap it together, then tighten.
Something kinda like this.

I was thinking of possibly doing a swivel mount out of the glove box... gotta take it apart this weekend and see what kind of space I got in there.

That might work...depends on how big the base is that holds the laptop. My setup is perfect, it can be removed in less than 5 minutes.

I'd log it without the computer but it just seems like it would be annoying. I'll try that one day though...

I went to lowes and home depot today.....I think i'm going with an ebay one lol

Yeah I usually have the laptop with me but I just keep it closed on the passenger floor. I log with just the box or sometimes I plug in the laptop but leave it on the floor.

I haven't datalogged yet, but when I do I'll be glad I got the HPTuners Pro so I can use my little box to do it and leave the laptop in a safe place!

Ok, I will share you all a hint that is cheap, easy, affordable and can be added/removed to any car within seconds!

If your married, or live at home with mom, or have been to walmart you know what this is.

Its commonly used in your cabinents to place dishes or cups on. It comes in a variety of colors, but ive mainly seen green. It grips to all surfaces. I think its a whoppin $5? You can sit it on your seat..it wont move. Put your laptop on it...and it wont move....but im sure if you take a turn a bit fast it will.
