The cobra was in front of me and gets on the gas so I have to downshift. He gets the intitial jump on me. Whole race he was ahead of me so I never got the chance to get side by side. But in the end if we were side by side he would of pulled me by most a half a car. Good race and I admit defeat. Would like a rematch though, without my passengers and my guitar and backpack in my car. Maybe the odds will be differnt next time.

I raced an 03 Cobra last weekend and the chick driving it wanted to race cause she thought she would kick my 4-cylinders ass! She was talking all this ****.
Guess what I was dead even and my clutch is slipping!

 

racing with passangers on ur own i would say its ok though

 

stock cobras arent as fast as eveyone thinks(yes they are fast but not a stock 12 second car)... i have 10+ friends that have cobras and they all say that they are slow as **** stock... altho that may be because all of them have 500+whp.

altho my one friend has a sir crx from japan (240whp) n he had his one friend (kid has a stock cobra) back down from racing him.

 

Riiigghhtt....don't expect that outcome to happen every time because trust me it won't. You obviously raced a shitty driver.

An 03-04 Cobra is a 12sec car stock, older ones no, but even a 99-01 runs mid-low 13s with a decent driver.

How do you know it was an 03-04?

If it was then you also raced a shity driver because even stock an 03-04 would walk you HARD from a roll or a dig.

 

I'm basing this off the bodystyle. I honestly dont know to much about fords. Whatever. Stupid me.

Anyways.......He really didnt walk me hard at all. If we were side by side it would of been half a car maybe.

 

yea, well he was talking about an 01 and all my friends have 01 and older... im not familiar with the newer ones. but i knew they ran mid to low 13s

99-04 Cobras are all the same bodystyle.

99/01 were N/A and went mid-13's w/ decent driving

03-04 were S/C and went high 12's w/ decent driving

 

To the original poster....I have a VERY hard time believing that you were in any way competitive with an 01 Cobra, considering they run low 13s stock and tend to trap around 105 or so.

Nevertheless....if it's true, then props and very impressive. I see that you're in Herndon, I'm in Fairfax. I've never gotten the chance to run a Cobalt and have heard some talk from a few of the stage 2 guys talking about how they would get me. Sooo, want to line them up some time? My car is an 06 M6 GTO with a K&N drop in filter, ported stock TB, and a ported intake manifold, so I'm not too far from stock.

FYI, I'm not trying to start a flame war here in ANY way....just noticed you were local and thought you might like to make some friendly comparrisons one night. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

P.S.....I also have a good friend with an 01 Cobra that is stock sans a set of flowmaster mufflers that I'm sure would be willing to give you a run to settle this debate.

 

Hell, my boy has an '03 Mach 1 that he just picked up. I actually pulled on him, though only maybe half a car from 0 to about 120. And before you ask, no it wasn't on a public street.

Yea I wouldnt mind running you some time. Wouldnt be too pretty against the M6 but I'm down. I raced my friends AUTO 5.7 GTO and it wasnt really pretty for him, so I'd like to see how well I do against you and your friend.

Ok so I dont know which one it was but all I know it sounded good when he got on it. Didnt hear his supercharger but that may be he was 4 cars on me before we started racing.

 

Yeah, probably was a 99/01 because you didn't hear the S/C and he didn't walk away from you like an '03 should have. My friend's bone stock '03 trapped 113mph, stock.
