Yes, many threads are on this.

BUT more specifically, what engine are you talking about? 2.2? 2.4? 2.0 supercharged? 2.0 turbocharged?

LS/LT/LTZ -- Probably lost ot a 05' Mustang GT (unless they have nitrous or a supercharger or a turbocharger)
SS (2.4) -- Still probably lost unless seriously modded or nitrous, or forced induced
SS/SC -- Stock, probably would lose.
SS/TC -- Possibly a drivers race, but from a dig or a roll?

 

I raced my buddies 07 in my pretty much stock TC. We were neck and neck till 100 (from a 30 MPH roll) and once we got around 110-115 (4th gear) I was pulling a good ways away from him.

Stock SS/TC vs. stock 05+ GT, with equal drivers, the GT gets the win from a dig, and it would be very close from a roll. Bolt ons and tune for each car it becomes alittle more even, but with equal drivers it would be very close from dig and roll, but giving the RWD car the edge from a dig. If my 05 GT didnt have a tune, I believe my SS/TC would take it from a dig and roll, but since it has a tune, I give the dig to my GT and the roll to my SS/TC.

Go to youtbe and watch mustang gt vs cobalt ss there is one on there of me in my 09 againt my buddies 06 mustang almost dead even till top end.
