05 SS vs 06 STi

so i saw him a few cars back while i was stopped at a light.. turned green and we pulled up to the next light and he worked his way up behind me. light turned green and i chirp a little comming of the line... he does nothing. next light turns red and he lines up next to me.. i wasnt quite sure if he was gonna go or not.. i had my gf in my car and he had a passanger. I was just getting ready to get owned.. light turned green and i got a good launch.. then i heard him winding out.. by second gear he was only at my door.. and i continued to pull.. then another red. This time he reved it up on his launch and i did nothing but hop.. but still stayed close. IM NOT TRYING TO START ****.. I actually bought an STi before i had my SS but had to dump it because of rediculous insurance.. so i know how fast they are... and i know they own us anyday. I think he just sucked at driving.. I also dont believe he was trying his hardest the first time. Seemed like he might have also sucked at driving. None the less.. the 06 actually looks sick contrary to what i originaly thought. His was black with stock silver rims but they were so dirty they looked graphite and it looked sweet.

As you know, he was a sh*tty driver. If you get next to someone who can drive, he will at least put 3-4 length on you out of the hole!

Good kill coming from a Sti owner, you should have said"Cobalt, more than you can afford buddy!" Sucks when any car is under driven or just the driver plain sucks. Classy post man!

I agree,

Some people just cant drive, but that doesnt mean you have to make excuses why you should have lost. Had you been at a drag strip, you would have been the winner. I know the Sti would just slaughter us from a dig, but dont sell yourself short because you can actually drive.

I have pulled a SRT-4 (3 separate races, 1 from dig, 2 from roll), the driver was just brutal.... I say a lot of it comes down to driver talent. Not a lot of SRT-4 drivers I have met actully know how to launch. Funny.

Anyhow hop I didnt hijack your thread with the srt4 jargon, just sharing a smiliar experience.

I did the exact same thing before buying my Red Line. It's painful to see them on the street after owning one for a while.

Definately a bad driver! 06's are dynoing higher than 05's and the all wheel drive system is revamped for better launches and handling. If he still cant drive it with all that help he should sell it to someone who can actually use it.

They also changed the motor mounts to PLASTIC...my buddy launched his new '06 twice and broke a motor mount, so he replaced them with the '05 mounts...crazyness. I swear, with as many warranties that subaru voids, it wouldn't surprise me if they did that on purpose...

According to some dynos ive seen they are putting down more power to the ground then 05's.
Plus both car and driver and motortrend tested the new one vs the evo and were getting slightly better times.

All dynos give different numbers... On a Dynapack dyno, STis are only putting down around 220-230whp. On a Dynojet dyno, they put down closer to 250-260whp. It all depends on the dyno. Some are more conservative than others... what matters is how much your numbers change when you put different mods on.

If you don't own one, and have never driven one, don't be so quick to make that comment...
I've never had a problem with roll races...and yes srt-4's are still slow...roll...dig...doesn't matter...I test drove one of them the day I bought my STI...3rd gear was its sweet spot from a roll, but my STI would walk all over it.
As for the Cobalt SS, never driven one, I've only seen like 2 on the roads...even being around Kansas City and St. Louis, would like to test drive one or ride in one but the dealer never has them.

Thats why the STI gets walked all over by EVO's all the time stock and mod for mod. But dont worry I'm still slow.

Never raced an evo, rode in one though, pulled just as hard as my car, would be a drivers race...
EDIT: and stock you still are slow...when it comes to mods its all about who has more money...

EDIT AGAIN: Not you give you a bad rep, but SRT-4 owners everywhere that I've ever met just seem to be ******** that have no respect for anybody elses cars...I could care less who I lose too, I like my car better anyways

Maybe in a forum I do...thats because I'm sick of people saying stuff about cars that they've "heard" and try to make it the real thing.

Because STI's are cool, and I'm beginning to wonder if the Cobalt SS/SC exists in real life, because between the two major cities I am always in I never see them, how many of them did they make?

STI's are cool, but being nice is still important.

lol, they do exist. However, they were all equipped with cloaking devices.

All the time? Stock for Stock not so much, they are almost dead even, so if one is pulling than someone’s not a good driver. Mod for Mod, well that’s to be expected, the 4G63 has been around for a whole lot longer than the EJ25. The mods are cheaper, and there are a whole lot more of them. BUT...If money is no object you can make an STI just as fast as an EVO, as was demonstrated at EVO v STI day in Englishtown. Although the Gadiel STI did not put up the fastest time of the day, it did win the event.
