My buddy just bought an 05 wrx sti and its completely stock and ive been saying i want to run him just to see how well the ss/sc well do with the intake against it i finally got that chance we were at a set of lights yesterday and took off when it turned green i got through first till about 4k and then started to spin so went to second and we were pretty even which is surprising cuz i figured awd id get owned from a dig, ended up going to the end of 3rd 110ish and he said he was just shifting into 5th when he ended and he only had a car and a half on me which surprised the **** outta me and im sure scared him a little bit, im trying to get him to race me from a 40 roll cuz im almost positive i have a chance at him. Worst part is is that i know if i had stage 2 im almost positive i woulda had him with that 7k redline the money i had put aside for stage 2 i have to put into winter tires so thats gonna have to wait till spring. Any input about this or if i can convince him to go from a roll would be appreciated. Once again hes stock and i got the ss/sc with the injen intake, thanks guys

 

You need to get the driver mod!

 

GMP exhaust, GMP stage II, GMP manifold will make the STi cry...

 

You think from a dig thats how it shoulda gone just not sure if it was him driving the car or not, i know he was trying just not sure if its his skills at a stick just dont want to go up to another stock sti and get owned cuz he didnt know how to drive he told me hes been driving one for awhile

 

The STI is a crappy driver thats why he only beat you by a car and a half.

With bald stock tires my friend pulled 1.7 60' and put about 2-3 car lengths on me off the line then Id real him in, he ran 13.2-13.0 all night long with an intake and maybe 1-2lbs more boost but it might have been stock boost. You should have been playing major catch up racing him from a dig.

Now if you race one from any speed roll his advantage goes away, thats the only reason STIs run such good times at the track. If you race a STI from a roll you will beat it, or it will be a very close race

 

I raced a sti with an exhaust and intake and i had stage 2 intake and exhaust and at the beginning of 3rd around 80 or whatever i started to pull and i was bout to pull hard...But i was only half a car ahead at 80

 

i raced one when i was stock from a 40 roll and kept at his rear bumper till about 100 and he started to pull slightly

Forget going from a Dig= AWD rules. My couson's Syclone would do high 1.6 60' times on radials. Get him to go from 40MPH & make him earn it.

 

These guys are talking about a stock STI. You know that a stock STI isn't known for racing from a roll, there killers from a dig.

My friend has a STi. Front mount, intake, dyno tuned, turbo back exhaust and he runs 13.2 @ 105. When I race him from a 30mph roll I beat him every time. From a Dig he beats me. I want to try him with my DRs on and my new mods =D
