05'LS vs 04' Mustang
One of my fellow co-worker recently purchased a 04' Mustang V6 Convt.(auto trans.). He's been showing it off at work, pwr/brking in the parking lot. (It's a sweet car I must admit!) Anyways..... Last night, after Bowling (we're in a league together), I get into the turn lane to enter onto the highway, lights red. He pulls up next me me (dual entrance lanes). He drops his rustang into neutral and rev's up the motor. I think what the hell......it's late, not alot of traffic. I shift down to 1(low), the light turns green, tires squeal, and I'm off. I pulled him by at least 3 car lengths onto the highway. I pull into the middle lane, and wait for him to catch up with me. He finally get next to me and gives me a thumbs up, then he takes off like a bat out of hell. This morning when we get to work, he come up to me and says "Wow that little car is faster than I thought!". I rubbed it in by asking him if he wanted to race again. "Not today", was his response.

Nice kill. He was asking for it.
Also, there's a huge difference between the auto's and manuals with the 99-04 Mustangs. I've seen an auto vert run consistent low-mid 17's, but I've also run mid-15's with my virtually stock (probably slower-than-stock) 5-speed.
Again, nice kill.

And his LS automatic isn't whimpy? Good matchup IMHO.

Obviously the Cobalt was a little LESS wimpy on this occasion, however.

P.S. I'm sure someone will have a smart comment already...

the auto v6's are dog slow, but the manuals are decently quick. My '00 V6 stang i used to own ran mid-high 15's in stock form. not too shabby for five years ago, and in a base model car.
